Klopp has only been able to pick both Matip and Lovren in 19 games. We've conceded 15 goals in those games.
Lovren was supposed to start against both Burnley and Leicester.

He's missed 37 of 119 games since we signed him. Not only isnt he good enough to be a starter but his injury record isnt very good either.

The forced chopping and changing of our defence isnt helping at all.
But the biggest issue is obviously not signing a CB, or at least when it was clear VVD was unavailable, that we didnt sign an upgrade for Klavan. Several good CBs moved this summer for decent fees.
All better than Klavan.

They were up by 1 after the first half. Their two CB's De Vriej and Bastos were subbed due to injuries. Hence why their game collapsed. Oh and Lucas wasn't really at fault for any of the goals.

Yep. The entire defence is too poor, & the dodgy keeper & lack of any kind of competent defensive midfielder just compounds that shite.

Im really hoping that Klopp will try and stop the rut but going back to a more defensive formation like we did in the 2nd half of last season. Maybe go 4-4-2 diamond or play 4-3-3 but with hendo instructed to just sit there and protect the back 4. Or the fullbacks instructed to not go forward as much. I dunno, but we need to change our style of play and start grinding out some results and play ourselves into form.

Any co-incidence that the defense has been shite since 2 things happened:

• Since we stopped playing a proper DM
• Since Mignolet's been in goal

Of course, the defense are to blame for a lot of it, but look what's behind them and in front of them.

For the time being, I would suggest this:

1. Go 4-2-3-1 which would allow for a double pivot rather than a single pivot in front of the defense. Put Can next to Henderson with both of them instructed to own the space in front of the back 4.
2. Give Ward a couple more games - if he does well, keep him there. He actually looks like he might be a much more commanding, calm presence than the other two.

Was good to see Lovren get off to such a solid start today and really set the tone. The sooner he is replaced, the better.

That said, none of that team have a clue about defending - midfield, in particular. Its like a hot knife through butter going getting in behind us.

Might explain why his performances have been even worse than before.
