No, he wasn't. He made our whole front line come alive, and one of the best individual displays I've seen in a Liverpool shirt in over 50 years was Anelka terrorising the whole Newcastle side practically on his own at Anfield. GH's decision not to offer him a permanent deal was a terrible mistake, one which nobody else at the club could understand and which would have been a huge blunder even if he hadn't then made things even worse by signing the worst no.9 in our history instead.
