Rihanna is set to take her new found love of football to the next level – by launching a bid to buy Liverpool. Seriously.
The pop queen entered our hearts during the World Cup in Brazil, by brilliantly live-tweeting matches and adding her own killer insight.
And amid reports that she has been looking to invest in an English football club, Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo says Liverpool are the team of choice.
The paper says she has been advised by close friend and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba to make an offer for the Anfield club.

Liverpool are currently owned by John W. Henry’s Fenway Sports Group and it’s unlikely that they’d want to sell, meaning Anfield may may be spared a Rihanna takeover.

Okay lads. Let's reign in the shit Rihanna jokes before this spirals into people wanting to break the internet.
Did you ever hear about the farmer in county Down that told her to put her clothes back on?

Now this Rihanna thing is a bit funny, but the thing about a new (part-)owner of Liverpool might have some legs though.

Tom Werner is bidding to be the next MLB commissioner, and if he wins, he'll need to sort out his part-ownership in the Red Sox. Unless FSG dumps the Red Sox, Werner then either has to sell his FSG share, or apparently will have to place this share in the hands of some trust. So might have some legs yet.

Looks like some journos are already putting things together along this line.

Pop star Rihanna linked with bizarre takeover of Liverpool FC

The Barbados beauty earned herself a legion of new fans with her tweets during the World Cup and now she reportedly fancies a move into ownership

We all know Rihanna had a great time during the World Cup, tweeting her views on matches, attending the final and sharing pecks on the cheek with members of Germany's victorious side.

But we didn't realise that her enjoyment of the game would extend to wanting to share a boardroom with the likes of Mike Ashley and David Sullivan.
Last week came reports that the singer wants to set up her own footballing academy in Barbados before branching into football ownership, with the diamonds singer said to be fancying a jump into the English game.

And now, Spanish news provider Mundo Deportivo reports that the club the pop star wants to call her own is Liverpool!
