If there's any Justice in the World? Lemar to be our Man?

Come on. Full back looks strong on both sides, as you say, but at CB we don't even have a good enough pair of first-choice options, and as for the midfield, we have three fit and available but no real cover for Henderson.

As for up front, what would we do if Mane or Salah get injured or require a rest? Sturridge is hardly reliable either

We're very, very short on genuine squad depth and quality, as the bench against Arsenal showed

CB we agree on.

I'm not sure I would say that FBs look strong, but they look good enough right now. Robertson has barely played - although has done well and looked to be a level above where he was at for Hull last year - and Moreno is Moreno. TA-A and Gomez are both young, both still raw despite their obvious talents and current form they will surely experience a downturn at some point this season. Still, I'm not overly concerned about these positions.

Centre midfield looks strong in my opinion; Henderson, Gini, Can, Lallana, Coutinho, Milner (possibly AO-C) - supplemented by Grujic, Ejaria and Woodburn. Six first teamers of very good quality, 3-4 squad players. It's unrealistic to expect more than that, in my opinion, sure we have Coutinho and Lallana unavailable right now but you can't sign 20 players to cover for every eventuality. Keita is incoming next year, likely to replace Can.

The wings also look good (certainly stronger than last year). Of the current playing staff, we have Mané and Salah as first choice with Coutinho, Lallana and Milner all able to fill in there along with Firmino and Woodburn. Moves are also afoot for Lemar and/or A-OC who can both play out wide and offer some of what the current two do.

Upfront, Firmino is clearly first choice while Sturridge appears to be second choice when fit. Behind them we have Solanke, Woodburn and (currently) Origi that can fill in, while Mané, Salah (and potentiall Lemar) could all do a job centrally - admittedly with less than ideal reshuffling on the wings. There's also Ings, but Klopp's history managing injuries tells us it will be a while before he is considered available. We could possibly do with a striker, but not without one outgoing; it's certainly isn't a greater priority than CB though.

This is a decent squad for a team with our spending power, it's unreasonable to expect us to have a squad with two top quality options for every position. What we do have, is a strong squad that is high in quality in the right areas, but is desperately crying out for a first choice CB to partner Matip. A CB and we are good enough for top 4 again, add in Lemar and we could be looking at top 3. No CB and I think we might be looking at 4-6.

Barca are in contact with him now, do they not realise they're directly sabotaging any chance they have of signing Coutinho by preventing us from signing his replacement?

It didn't work out well for them when they starting 'moving' for Keita under our noses.

Barca have a real hard on for us. We were linked with Seri, they muscle in and nearly sign him; we're linked with Keita, they make an offer just as we're wrapping it up; we're negotiating with Lemar, and then they're back in with elbows as pointy as Fellani. We better not sell Coutinho to these cunts.

Can't say i'm fussed about lemar either way. He's still a downgrade on coutinho. I'd rather keep coutinho given the choice.

Coutinho is off next summer for sure - at the latest. Lemar will be around longer. It's would seemingly be a downgrade but it might be a better long term strategy.

Yeah but keeping coutinho and buying a CB means we have a good title winning chance THIS season.

Yeah, but as soon as Lemar is as good as Coutinho Barca will fucking swoop in and take him.

I'm getting really pissed off tbh, regardless of whether Coutinho goes & Lemar comes in.

We needed six players minimum imo, as it stands we're going to have a huge problem in the final third of the season, if not before depending on injuries.

We have done nowhere near enough business this window.
You can look forward to January then Jon.

I think in time Lemar could be a better player than Coutinho....

He is stronger, quicker and yet still can beat a man.... He is the Henry type really similar to MBappe.

Quicker, but not stronger he seems pretty lightweight tbh. I can't see him having the creativity and passing skills of coutinho.

You would have to believe there is a great chance of this one given they havnt said no after turning down our first bid.

My cock is on a lazy lob.

Get the fuck over their and enjoy a camembert, don't want to drag this thing out any longer than it needs to be.
