If not Martinez

Most of us, following SaintGeorge's pick a while back, have been in awe of Bilbao's Javi Martinez. He is the complete package for a CM - someone who we could build our midfield around for the next decade. However, the likelihood of him coming to us is minimal. We do need someone to play the middle (as I doubt Henderson will be given the responsibility next year, and Adam is out of his depth).

So if not Martinez ...

I'd go for someone who was mentioned here quite a bit last year, and highly recommended by Bunny, Yann M'Vila of Rennes. He's got it all - like Martinez - and would probably cost 15-20 million instead of 25-30 ... I think he'd be an excellent pick up.

If not Martinez then someone else who's powerful and commanding in the air, good on the ball, who's got a great range of passing, capable of scoring goals, strong in tackles and not too slow.

True, Martinez and Lucas is my dream midfield, sitting behind Eriksen, even more so. *sigh* if only.

Cabaye please

I don't think he would join us.

I'd love us to sign Dembele. Would also go for Hoilett.

People might think they' be underwhelming signings but they're realistic ones, and they'd add much needed pace and skill to our midfield/attack.

I think Hoilett is a good shout, I'd love us to sign him, he's out of contract in the summer I think so he should be a bargain. Him and one Suarez calibre player would make me happy this summer, assuming we don't sell everyone.

Yeah because we never sign players from the mighty Newcastle

Times have changed. The Toon were a bit of a laughing stock up until this season. Now they seem to be much more solid Club, they have some top players and the future looks bright for them.

Mighty indeed, so much so that they're 8 points clear of Liverpool.

Defo. Impressed every time i've seen him, think he's only 21. Not the finished article but he has all the attributes to be a top player.

Think Spurs are after him as well though.

Your a boring woe is me doom monger.
After your praise of Roy Hodgson yesterday I'd say your opinion on here is about as worth as much as the Somalian shilling.

They wont sell him and I doubt he'd come here, but Schweinsteiger would be great

Doom wonger? I just offer my opinion, positive or negative. If you don't agree that's your problem. Can't say i agree with most of what you post but i don't feel the need to chase after you with a sarcastic and insulting response.

As for praising Hodgson, you sure about that because i don't recall praising him? I was just making a comparison and stating fact. There's a difference.

'Much more solid club' based on one good season? How many times have they been ahead of us in the league in the last decade? When was the last time they won a trophy? Do you seriously believe what you just wrote? Or have you also joined the SCM's ever growing WUM school?

The odds of Martinez leaving Bilbao this summer (he even talked about his ridiculously high release clause) are far higher than Schweinsteiger (far better than the way Deschamps said it! 🙂) ever leaving Bayern.

Compared to seasons gone by, then yes. Don't see how that's such a mental comment to make?

What the good fuck are you going on about about how many times have they been ahead of us in the last decade, when was the last time they won a trophy and all this shite? what has that got to do with the here and now?

Look at the players they've got - Coloccini, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben-Arfa, Demba Ba, Cisse. If they hold on to them and add to their squad in the summer, they'll be a threat for us and others. They're a very good side and Pardew is a good manager. With that in mind, i think it would be very difficult to persuade a Newcastle player to join us considering where both Clubs are at and what the future may hold for both.

WUM is a word thrown about with fuck all substance to back it up. Oh you've made a comment i don't like, i'll just label you a WUM and hopefully that tag will stick.
