If he goes, who do we bring in until the end of the season?

I don't want him, but didn't want him sacked. One bad season out of six; the manager deserves the right to turn it around.

That being said, it's *very hard* to turn back negative momemtum. You can see that now with BR.
Wasn't talking about you.
Just the Mong brothers who keep banging the drum yet coincidentally wanted him sacked a few years back.
It's basically laughable.

I know mate, I didn't think you were, I was just making a wisecrack.

Millions ? He only has six months left on his contract..

The outlay is well worth the risk. Better than giving Brodgers more money to spend in January

You want Rafa as an interim manager right? So are we going to let Rafa spend money in Jan? Does Rafa move on then in the summer to pave the way for a manger like Klopp (if we can get him). Will Rafa agree to such a contract? Have you thought this through or is it a case of..

Step 1. Get Rafa
Step 2. Something, something,
Step 3. Back to the glory days

It makes me laugh, all these people saying Rafa as a short term fix. So what, he miraculously makes us score goals without a striker, or we give him money to blow, before jacking him off?

Anything other than a short term stability job with Rafa is asking for trouble, he'll want money with no guarantee of any kind of domestic success and we'll be looking elsewhere again in no time. We can't score goals because we haven't got an available goalscorer, not even "genius Rafa" can solve that one without spending cash.

What system of defending at corners are we actually using now? I was looking last night and couldn't work it out. If it's zonal marking, they've got a weird idea of where the zones are, and if it's man-for-man marking they don't seem to know where the other man is. We seem to start with about five men in a huddle on the penalty spot, presumably because the other team has sent men there to make them copy them, and then Skrtel grips the shirt of one of them and is carried off into the night, Lovren tries to chase two players heading in different directions, Moreno gets confused so stands still... It's baffling.

Also because all of our players are in the box, if we clear it, it comes straight back in. Its like we have to clear every corner three fucking times.

Unless things spiral ridiculously out of control there is no point binning Rodgers off during the season. He has earned a bit of time, but if we end up more than a handful of points outisde the top 4 then he doesn't really deserve to stay on.

I'd love to know what we were doing for Chelsea's first goal a few weeks ago. A still shows 4 or 5 players sucked towards the ball 10 yards out leaving 2 Chelsea players unmarked about 7 yards out. It was pathetic.

Same thing happened with the Ludo goal.

[article=http://www.football-italia.net/59746/serie-week-14-did-you-know]Napoli have fought back to earn an extra nine points from trailing situations in Serie A, more than any other club. Although 18 goals conceded after 14 rounds is their worst defensive record since 2009-10, the Azzurri have scored 24 goals in their last eight competitive home games.[/article]

Not entirely sure about the 'certainty' in Rafa improving our defence.

We aren't Newcastle/Chelsea/Spurs/United, if he's still doing shite at the end of the season, maybe then we can talk about parting ways.

We are hardly in that category, we replaced Moyes at the end of season when he failed to qualify for Europe.

As I said elsewhere ye would be nuts to get rid of Rogers and I don't think you will.

Yes he is having a mare this season, mostly due to poor transfer strategy during the summer. He simply didn't come close to replacing Suarez.

And of course you can say who else was available but you if you threw enough money at a few clubs/players you would have signed them. Maybe you couldn't afford them but you spent over £110m and probably took on players with wages of £400k per week.
That money would have been enough to get almost any two players in the world.
maybe that was Rogers decision maybe it was the clubs.

But even given those mistakes I don't think you will find a better manager out there who will guarantee top 4. They may do after spending a chunk of cash but are they any more likely than Rogers if he was given more cash?

Yes you are, you're in that category because after years of gloating about how you're a club who sticks by their managers and taking the piss out of Chelsea, City Spurs and even us for sacking managers freely, the first time you guys have a tricky period under a new manager, you sack him, despite the fact there were tons of other factors which led you to the season you had, you just ignored and lumped on Moyes, the fact you did it straight after the game which invalidated Moyes' champions league clause says it all, so yes, you deserve to be in there, without doubt.

That said, your other post is spot on.

Phil Thompson

just to scream at them for the next 5 months

or Carragher for the same reasons

What sort of diminished brain power believes that Paying compensation to Napoli in order to offer Rafa a short term contract makes any sort of sense.

You could hope Napoli sack him, but then you'd wonder about the thought process behind appointed a guy who'd just been sacked for making the 2nd best team in Italy the current fifth best team in Italy.

Really - if we're looking at someone to tighten up the defence and grind out enough results to get back in the champions league spots, before appointing a big name experienced coach.... then we'd be as well appointing Tony Pulis.

As if we'd pay Napoli millions to get Rafa on a short-term deal you fucking morons
That's a massively myopic viewpoint.

Getting a good manager is priceless. Look at how much we spunk on shite players. A top manager could turn things around and pronto. Sadly, I doubt that Rafa is the right man.

nearly winning the league to being the subject of the 'sack" on SCM. What a journey.

lads, see you in a few weeks. too much going in the real world, and I need some fun in my life.

It's half zonal, with the 'zonal' component being inside the 6 yard box. Quite a few sides are adopting it these days.

I could explain it, but I won't cos we're no fucking good at it anyway.
