He was excellent mate - some excellent decision making and was unlucky not to have two goals.

Hopefully, he'll be on the bench for a few more 4-1 scoelines as we had against WBA, so he can get 10-20 minute run outs.

Unbelievable prospect (we've got a few). I'd like to see him getting his chance as a sub sooner rather than later.

Our subs so far this season have been completely uninspiring and ineffective. Him and McLaughlin should be there or thereabouts, surely?

I can't understand why we loaned Wisdom out and kept Flanagan. Should have been the other way round. Still, looks like we'll have another right back come January.

Obviously brendan knows best but i don't get why sterling sits on the bench for 90mins most weeks and then doesn't play in these games . And i don't get why Ibe is behind him for minutes in the first team .

I think I've said several times that I thought Ibe should be on the bench and coming on in matches. For me, he should be the first name among the subs. Young, fast, tricky and hungry - do we really have the luxury of NOT including him? In fact I'd like to see Ibe, McLaughlin and Teixeira included in the squads all through the season. They've all got really good potential, each one covers a different area, and they need such chances. Ibe, though, is the last player you want on (unless there's a spare senior goal poacher on the bench) if you're a tiring defender during the last 15 minutes. Left, right, all over the place, he'd be, at the very least, a pest.

Exactly, he's got the right attitude. Sterling's had his problems and did initially look hungry and positive, now it just seems like he turned out to be the new SWP (early days I know). Compare Ibe's attitude and body language to that of Moses.

I have to admit that even when Raheem Sterling was getting all the attention in the youth teams and reserves I struggled to see the too much potential. He looked too spontaneous and not enough thought went into his play. I'm not going to write him off yet as he's still very young but based on what I've seen so far I'm surprised he's played as many 1st team games as he has.

I feel very different about Jordan Ibe, he has a touch of John Barnes about him, he has pace, power and seems to read the game a lot better than Raheem. He'll be 18 next month and I think he's almost ready for regular inclusion in the 1st team squad.

Loan.

We'll fucking ruin him playing as a wing back or some such shit."

Needs games in a competitive environment in his best position.

I know it won't happen but I'd put him in the squad and loan Raheem Sterling.

I'd love to see us loan players to clubs and locales that outside of their comfort zones to see in what new ways they can develop. Instead of loaning to a Championship side, why not loan Sterling to a midtable Bundesliga club, or say wherever we sent Suso in Spain.

I still dream of sending Shelvey and Spearing out on loan to Flamengo, and them coming back with silky smooth skills. Something like that, anyways...

Problem is reserve football is lower than championship level so it's hard to gauge if he's ready. Rodgers obviously feels he isn't. I'd loan him to a championship team so he can gain experience and get his game to the next level. He was great at beating his man but his decision making still isn't that great.

The good thing about the reserves these days is that Rodgers is using it more and more as a bespoke finishing school rather than an aimless workout for players he doesn't fancy, so Ibe going there isn't a sign that he's far from ready. He's given Inglethorpe very specific instructions in terms of what he wants Ibe to work on in order to be ready to fit into the first team squad (more explosive pace in the first few yards, more direct runs into the area, etc). That kind of intense fine tuning and coaching is much preferable, in my opinion, to sending him off on loan where he'll probably be coached much more loosely. Obviously it will suit a few, like Wisdom, who really just need games, but for players like Ibe I'd prefer them to work with Inglethorpe, who's outstanding.

"Jordon is only 17 years of age and even Raheem is only 18. We can't forget that.
"We don't want to rush these young players' development even though we want young players to come through and we want to put them in the first team. We've done that over the course of the last year or so.
"But it is also important to understand that it comes at different stages for some players.
"Jordon has been in and around the first team for most of the season but there is probably going to come a stage where he needs to go out and play games and feel the pressure.
"But at 17 years of age, he is still developing.
"Look at Raheem's progress and what he's done in the last year or so. He has propelled himself from a youth team and reserve player to an England player.
"But they still have a long way to go in their professional careers and at this stage we're just looking to manage that and make sure we nurture that for the future."
Rodgers added: "They understand that if you are focused and playing well then you will play.
"But in the modern game it can be difficult for young players to break through.
"Over the last year or so they have seen that they are going to get an opportunity and if they can devote their life, be professional and take the opportunities when they come then they are going to have an excellent chance.
"You just have to give them the time and understanding. There are not going to be too many 17 or 18-year-olds ready for the first team, but we want them to be at 20 or 21."

Because Flanagan is on ridiculous fucking wages (Dalglish) and none of the championship clubs that he's only good for can afford to take him.

Wisdom needs games.

Anytime I've seen him he's looked a frighteningly good prospect.

Only a matter of time before he's getting more regular look-in's, and I quite like the way Rodgers is handling him too. I think he's learnt something from the burnout Sterling experienced in the second half od last season after having far too many games and far too much pressure heaped on him after a promising start.

Ibe's from a different cloth to most of the youngsters you see coming through too. Built, got a bit of swag but not too much arrogance, confident, strong as fuck, explosive, likes a shot, quick - there's not much to dislike.

Kid's gonna be cash money.
