I want some glamour

Yes, you need the steady eddies to do a job, build a team yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn fucking yawn... thanks for the invaluable insight.

You still need some top class attacking talent in the side - glamour.

If you think we have enough top class attacking talent in the side and merely need to add these so called "team" players, why don't you say so instead of waffling on about some patronizing shit everyone knows and more to the point agrees with.

Ha, that post really made me laugh for some reason, Keni. But spot on. None of us are idiots, we know we need to build a team, but we also need a few outstanding players what are really gonna kick us on.

Did i say i think we have enough top class attacking talent?

Suarez and Gerrard...there's our glamour players if you so desperately need them.

I know we have Suarez and Gerrard.

Do you think that's enough or do you think we need to add to that list of two you've provided?

Gerrard is always injured and in decline and if Suarez isn't there we have zero attacking spark, someone who can spring to life and make something happen when a game is going nowhere. We need more than that otherwise, for all our 'steady-Eddies' we'll become predictable and, inevitably... stoppable.

I think Henderson, Adam and Downing would add a lot to our team.

I wasn't patronising, merely using Man U players as an example of why you don't always need so many glamour players in a team.

I hate to use the expression 'beggers can't be choosers' but we aren't exactly going to be a first choice for a glamour signing. I remain skeptical we will land a marquee signing when we aren't in europe so I don't have a big problem with signing players that will make us a more solid, balanced side, hopefully this will make us more consistent so we can challenge for a CL place.

I can understand your frustration though, keni, as the team posted by mark looks decidedly average but it's early days with regards to the transfer window.

I think glamour is the wrong word, I don't mean a top drawer well known European player, I just mean the 'right' type of player, I don't think Suarez was particularly a 'glamour' signing as such, but that's exactly the type of player we're talking about.

Agree with that mate, when you think Glamour footballers you think of a Ronaldo, a Messi, but who else really?

I can see understand people being concerned with some of these players we're linked with as they're not Marquee players or whatever you want to call it but they're players that would certainly improve us imo.

Get us back challenging the top 4 next season.

I want good consistent players we can rely on more often than not, that slot right into the team rather than playing someone out of position 'to do a job'. that's all I want because I know once we have that we'll improve.

are the likes of downing and co able to come to liverpool and consistently deliver? frankly he can't do much worse that the players we've utilised on the left side of midfield. I want competent players front to back and then later down the line we can build on that, a top drawer player above and beyond that is a bonus as we only have our good name to trade with as we aren't in europe, aren't located in the capital and other teams will probably be able to offer higher wages.

I don't mind Downing tbh Neil, but we do need a more skillful, quick player somewhere in attack. I think Downing is steady, will score a few and create probably more, plus he'll give us balance and another setpiece option.

Good player.

I agree, I think we do need another technically gifted player that get passed his marker. Someone who can form a partnership with Suarez.
I really don't enjoy watching Suarez have hissy fits on the pitch cause no one in attack can understand him.

We have a lot of positions to fill with quality, & we ain’t Citeh.

We NEED a LB, LW & striker.

A CB & midfielder or two would be extremely beneficial too.

Next season priority has to be CL, that’s 4th place or higher. As such buying quality players in those positions mentioned is far more beneficial IMO than buying one ‘marquee’ player & filling the other positions with ‘also-rans’ or relying on youth.

Also, we don’t have CL footy to offer a marquee player, therefore should one agree to join us, we’ll inevitably be paying them more for the privilege. If we wait until we establish ourselves back as a top 4 club we can attract more players of that calibre & save on wages too.

I wasn't even talking about downing specifically I was just using him as an example as a left midfielder who will come into the side and slot right in and will take little time to bed in and will deliver consistent service from the left when currently every left side player we have on our left is looking to cut inside and couldn't cross if their life depended on it. downing and left midfield are examples but the point remains, in a lot of positions we have makeshift players rather then specialists.

so yes, I would love a marquee signing but that's what I want to see happen first (a balanced team) and I think is what will happen first as I can't see us getting top drawer quality this transfer window, rather we will buy young players that we can mold in our image and will be solid and conisistant rather the spectacular as spectacular comes at premium. I don't thinks it's patronizing or defeatist to expect that.

We got Suarez in the winter. I'm still happy about that.

Another creative attacking player of similar quality would be great, but no idea who it'll be, and I'm not holding my breath it'll happen at the moment.

Not really @rsed about Jeffren. Mata would be quite good. I have a feeling there'll be someone though.

I don't really care about this. I don't really want us to rely on crossing the ball so Carroll can get loads of headers.

Just some good attacking players and a good style of play please. We're well on the way already anyway.

to spend 35m on a player and then not attempt to get the best out of him would be silly.

To alter our style of play in the wrong direction because of one player is criminal, I don't care how much we spent.

To sign a player for £35mil who doesn't fit into the way you play is also pretty silly

Didn't we alter our style of play to suite Torres when he joined?

Won't Chelsea have to do the same?

Sorry for mentioning El Cunto btw.

Judging by how fat he looks (by Premier League standards) in that 'holiday pics' thread, he's going to have to be.
