I wanNaby (Under the sea in an Octopus's Garden in the Shade) - Deal Confirmed

It's quite endearing that you are showing all the signs of onset dementia in the manner it would be depicted in a 1970s sitcom
Well the other ways are continually forgetting to walk into rooms & having no idea what I've done so for. Oh, & walking upstairs to make a cup of tea. For some reason I've done that one loads recently.

They're much less entertaining as a story though.

Well, thank you very much.

From now on every time I read one of Jon's posts I'll have the sound of audience laughter in my head.

That Coutinho camp is a bit scary. Panic is setting in. The Frimino camp is going to go south too. I'm going to remain in the Naby Keita thread until I see him holding a Liverpool Scarf over his head or being felt up by the club doc. I WILL GO DOWN ON THIS SHIP.

The Firmino camp is going nowhere. A true leader and a super forward that will captain us in the not so distant future.... That camp will be Peace, love and halleluja for a decade or so....

I didn't sign up for feeling Keita up. But if that's what it takes. *rolls up sleeves and lubes up hands*

“Many players with an African backround, and I’ve met a lot of them, there is a clan and sometimes a whole village that feeds with the help of a player. And that there are people who demand that he has to change, that is so.
Believe me, my knowledge of geography is sufficient to distinguish Guinea from Africa.”

Keep digging that hole!

This guy doesn't know when to stop! So please don't Rangnick. This is all to the good.

He's basically calling all Africans village dwelling tribesmen. It's not a great way to endear himself to the player. He'll be calling him a 'spear-chucker' next at this rate.

I missed the Ragnick stuff but after googling I found this:

“There should be someone who points them into the right direction,” he said at a coaching convention in Bochum on Wednesday. “The boys themselves are not the problem here. It is their surroundings. A whole village in Guinea or somebody from their entourage tells the players why they must do something right away. I can’t blame the players.

“I expect them to play for us next season. Both are extraordinary players who make the difference for our team.”

Is that the initial quote that caused a problem? Is it just because he used the word village?

I think there are various translations doing the rounds. That one is being kind to Rangnick. I prefer ones that make him look a bit more National Socialist.

Think so. Keita is from a city three times the size of Leipzig so it is well patronising innit. And he's kept digging the hole today.

Ah fair enough, aside from pulling racial stereotypes out of that quote it's a bit shite that he didn't have any background knowledge on one of his best players.

And its even a reference to a section that makes sense in this context.

But i still think we all know Keita isn't going to attempt to make the argument that he can terminate his contract because Rangnick referred to Conakry as a village

You do want him here within months rather than decades right?

Perhaps best we just threaten legal action and then pay them the money for the player. Everyone's a winner. Handsome fee for threatening legal letter from yourself of course.

It does sound like a village in Ireland

What's our next move then? Can he pull a Toure and sulk about a birthday cake

You see the problem with that is my 0 is then in the hands of the club pushing the transfer through. My 0 doesn't go for nobody.
