I wanNaby (Under the sea in an Octopus's Garden in the Shade) - Deal Confirmed

I can't accept that we have to pay £60-70M for a supposedly very good footballer. That's the sort of money you pay for a player approaching world-class status. Sanchez and Lacazette both look to be transferring for sub £50m. Has Kieta done anything on the pitch to justify a higher outlay than either? Not for me. Would we be better splitting £70M between LB and CM? I'm excited about the transfer but reluctantly cautious about the fee. It's a fuck tonne of money in any market. I just hope he's worth it. £45-50M seems about right for a player at his stage in his development and lack of interest from other clubs.

£45-50m is bang on but only if we want to wait a year and fight it out with a load of other clubs also looking to pay his release clause. If he stays, RBL may even look to negotiate another deal and close that loophole anyhow. It's now or never, I really think he could be the difference between fighting for fourth or aiming higher next year if we sort CB as well - in that case, he's well worth £70m.

If you've seen him loads then that's reassuring.

Reading between the lines from people who watch Bundesliga regularly, Keita's talent is in the Alonso, Gerrard territory. He has a fairly long contract. His club is loaded. 60-70 million is the going rate nowadays for such a talent. Everton just spent 31 million on Keane and he had only one year left on his contract.

Sanchez is going for 50 million only because he has a year left on his contract. I am sure he will demand twice the wage Keita would which would also make up the difference in transfer price over the length of the contract.

This season is silly season with regards to transfer fee. Going rates are yet to be fully established so it's hard to gauge what's good value and what isn't.
Those who tend to watch a lot of German football seem to rave about this guy as being something very special. A couple of the contributors on TAW seem to feel that he's heralded as one of the best midfielders in Europe already. Am I happy about blowing £70 mill? No, as I think it's a risky punt. But it's clear that Klopp rates him very highly, and I rate Klopp, so back the manager and pay it.
He's also very young, so when we sign him and he leaves for Madrid in four years, we will see serious value in his transfer fee. He will be worth a bomb, if he continues on his current trajectory.

If he's anywhere near Gerrard level then I'm happy enough selling any of our players to fund the purchase.

Don't forget that part of the reason his fee is so high is next year's well documented release clause. We would be paying a premium to release him early and avoid a dog fight with other clubs. If he has another season like this one, clubs will be queuing up at £48m.

@AnfieldHQ: Liverpool are aware a £70m valuation has been mooted for Keita & are likely to make a structured pitch, inclusive of add-ons. (Paul Joyce)

@AnfieldHQ: Liverpool know there is little point in proposing a figure that will be instantly turned down by RB Leipzig. (Paul Joyce)

He's not in the final year of his contract.

Supposedly Sanchez is demanding £350,000 a week from City !

I know people are worried - 60-70 million on a player most of us have rarely seen, and he's played for a small team and for a country most people couldn't find on a map, or name her capital.
Klopp thinks this is the man to make his midfield tick.
Good enough for me.
We've spent too many years missing out on targets because we're worried about a few pounds here, a few pounds there ... it's why we've spent too many years missing out on league titles and trophies.
Sign him.

Knicked of another site and have no idea who they are, but I think we need a bit of this to get the camp site going again. Its been filled with despair, crying, shite drugs, fat girls from Newcastle and food that has gone past it date. This is like someone dropping some supplies on us, and a bus filled with Swedish bikini models breaking down next to the camp site. Baked beans and tits! @doctor_mac

The BS meter is obviously beeping, but fuck it. A Guinaen journo could at least get some info from the Keita end.

I was informed by @makadjiamadou that #LFC have previously made contact with Leipzig but offer was not substantial enough. Set for 2nd offer

Talks between Liverpool & Leipzig have significantly progressed over the past 2 days and we understand that the deal is 90% complete #LFC

An initial transfer fee of £60M & 8 different add-on clauses have been agreed in principle. Making the deal worth a potential £73.5M #LFC

Haha 'ITK' status revoked

Amadou Makadji ... Also, you've flipped the flags around - the flag is Guinea, but if you switch around the outside bars of their flag, it's Mali.

His job as per Twitter is - Publication director for FOOT_224

That sounds rather like a job title that he's given himself, and been approved by the other members of the management board. Also himself.
