I fucking hate Guardiola

I have no problem with him at all. He comes across well and not a massive cunt (like Maureen). What the fuck is wrong with wanting to manage big teams with a chance of trophies? That's what it's all about isn't it? If it was me I'd do the same and so would most of us I'm sure. 'Cheque book manager'? Fuck off. He's talented, pretty sound and a winner. If he ever came to us we would be popping boners left right and centre. #justsayin 🙂

I liked him at Barcelona. Not as much now.

He's a great manager though.
I don't agree with that. He's completely untested as a manager.
Barcelona with Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Valdez, Pique etc Bayern who buy the fuck out of that league every year and City.
He's never been tested.
Whilst I level the same criticism at Jose to be fair he won a Champions league with Porto and one with Inter. Neither was the best or richest team around. Pep has never won a fight in which he was ranked second.

Simeones achievements are far greater

Inter had spent half a billion in the three seasons before Maureen turned up, the highest spenders in the whole of Europe.

Porto, fair enough.

I kinda get what you're saying but it's overly simplistic.

Barcelona hadn't won the title the previous two years prior to hiring Guardiola. The previous season they finished 3rd something like 20 points behind Real Madrid. There were real dressing room issues with the main stars feuding and Ronaldinho was already starting to have fitness issues. It certainly wasn't a case of everything being ready made for him. Many managers have failed in similar circumstances.

In his first season Deco and Ronaldinho were binned off, he brought in Busquets and Pedro from the B team and reshaped the way they play... all to pretty good effect.

He did a great job at Barcelona and is clearly a very good manager. I wasn't overly impressed with his time at Bayern though.

Maybe he didn't pay his dues at lesser clubs but it's not really his fault he made it to the big leagues off the bat.

Oh please.... Anyone that denies Pep is a great manager is an idiot/blinkered or a fucking dolt. Of course he is great. Annoying it is to us all? Yes he is. It wrankles that he is also pretty humble and not a cunt *see Jose* - Still truth will out. I like the guy and respect what he has achieved, I would love to see him do the same with a lower league team though. That would be interesting. Ask yourself though.... Why would you?

You can be unkind. It's cool.
I remember it all. I just disagree.

I don't think he's a BAD manager, and he might be a great manager. But I can't take the evidence of his managerial career to date to justify that.
But you're right, why would he.

Ha, it sounded mean when I read it back.

Fair enough. I think what he accomplished at Barca was a fantastic achievement even if he did have one of the best group of players in history to call on.

Guardiola appears to be viewed as someone who can eek out that extra 5% or whatever that makes the difference at the top of the game. I don't know how he'd fare if put in the position of Simeone or Klopp. He's been untested as an underdog, which is presumably what you meant. I'm not sure that is a barrier to being classed as great though.

Perhaps this is similar to the world class player debate.

Allardyce is arguably a great manager. It's just he's great for struggling clubs who don't want to get relagated.

Everyone has their own little niche.

He's spent £963m in 9 years.

I just can't get past that.
That's not a great manager. It's a great scout with an unending bank account.

Since leaving Barcelona he's spent 640m and won ZERO European trophies.

He's clearly capable. He's clearly got his squad playing great football. But it certainly helps that each player is worth 50m

Klopp (for Example) has Trent AA (0) Gomez (0) Mignolet (8) klavan (5m) Lovren (25) Henderson (17) Can (8) Etc etc etc to chose from.
Not that we don't have a VVD and a Salah and Mane and what not we paid good money for. Difference is City have ALL their players in that top top bracket of amount paid.

He's sat in a Ferrari or a McLaren. Everyone else is in a Force India.

Obviously on my own here but I love his approach to football.

If every manager had it we would walk the league.

How does that make ANY sense?

Perhaps a small hyperbole 😀

But Pep's team play attacking open football, half if not more of the league's teams play park the bus hope to nick a point football.

If every team played attacking football we'd hump them.

It's shite to watch. After Liverpool the next team I'd watch if I had the time would be City.

Any cunt can win the title at Man City,as evidenced by Mancini and Pellegrini both doing so

And a cursory glance at the last few years at Barcelona and Bayern suggests that Guardiola also managed to achieve what any cunt can do at those clubs also, given those two clubs have carried on winning it both before, during and after he was manager there too.

So he's successfully proved that he can win the title at clubs that win it anyway.

And spends a billion pounds doing so. He's a fucking genius

Indeed but City this year are on another planet compared with any previous champions and fair superior to previous City teams.

They will end up winning the league with 6/7 games to spare.

Insane in such a competitive league now.

A reminder.
They spent 463m in 18 months.

Give me 18 months and West Ham and 463m and I'll challenge for the league.

We've spent what in 18 months?

Nearly 300M.

Of course he has spent a shed load but you then have to get those players to gel and he is doing some job of that.

He's consistently done it.

I'm just surprised at all the hate, he's no Jose or Fat Sam.

I don't hate him at all. That's Brendan.
I just think he hasn't proved to me he's a great manager.

I think hes actually a good guy. Yes he does spend a lot but he also gets his teams to play the brand of football everyone likes. In that team if you were to say who is actually the best in their position in the world ... as an out and out striker .. you can say augero but the other players are really good but maybe not the best in the world. Its hard to gel these players for long period of time as both Chelsea and City have found out with their cash. Pep ..based on his record manages that better than most IMO.

Jose Mourinho's record away at Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham as Man Utd manager:

8 games, 0 wins and 1 goal scored.

Just saw this.
Amazing.

Bob Paisley took over the best club side, and richest, in England and proceeded to win pretty much everything in sight. He had his team performing at a higher level than his predessesor. Got them playing wonderful football. He didn’t manage a shit team either.
Does he remain unproven?
