Hoffenheim

I like Wini, but maybe he should just be saved for home games. He's been spineless with his passing and general ball possession. No risks.

Henderson has looked lost in DM.

Can did ok in the half. At least he put himself about.

Games like this we miss Coutinho. He'd skip by a few of these Hoffenheim midfielders if they pressed him and it'd open up countless counter attacking opportunities.

When they press Hendo/Wini/Can, they either lose it, pass it sideways or take an easy option.

Because 50% of our defence is just horrible. Absolutely horrible.

We know what Lovren is and what he is not. He can be solid in the right set-up (like he was at Southampton and at times last season alongside Matip, Clyne and Milner), if he is protected from all sides and is asked to simply do his job, nothing more. But as soon as you expose him by asking him to cover for someone like Moreno, all of the poor decision-making, suspect 1 on 1 defending etc comes to the fore. That's why everybody's consensus was that we need to replace him with another first-choice defender and make him 3rd choice. Instead, we made our defense worse but inexplicably replacing Milner with Moreno. Put Milner back in and Lovren will instantly look more solid.

Just seen the penalty, now I know we rightfully hate Lovren, but that looked pretty soft to me.

I think if we drop Firmino in Gini's spot, and replace him with Solanke, we will be far far more dangerous

I think TAA won't be losing his spot ...

Any left to right cross field ball is going to be a danger to us if we continue with Moreno. It's really inexplicable that he's playing.

Yup, and if you notice, Hoffenheim are doing those crosses on a regular basis. They see a weakness and are trying to exploit it. It's a miracle we still didn't concede.

Mane seems to be stepping up as the leader. Nice to see.

TAA impressive again.

Klopp needs to sort this shit out for the second half though because we will concede at least one at this rate.

Hendo has hit a few fantastic passes releasing Mane.
Henderson always has a good long pass on him, and that short diagonal cross/ball into the box. But when you're playing deep, it's your short passing that needs to be clever, consistent and designed to release pressure from tight spaces. He never does that well.

That was pretty fucking poor.

The scoreline massively flatters us. If this were 2-0 or 2-1 it'd be more of a reflection on our performance.

We don't seem capable of pressing like usual, whereas they are continually pressing us, & winning the ball back in dangerous areas too.

I think Klopp needs to abandon the 4-3-3 with the present personnel. Go with a 4-2-3-1. Henderson-Can duo in midfield. Drop Wijnaldum. Firmino at AM and maybe Origi up top.

Prime culprit was Moreno for not being where the left-back is supposed to be. Moreno goes AWOL all the time. I don''t know how Klopp and his assistants can't see it. Lovren adopted a position that invited the forward to fall over his leg, and he duly obliged. It was soft in my opinion.

Moreno has his uses. When we are playing Burnley at home and have to break them down. He can be an auxillary winger.

But in a tough European away game? We are just asking for trouble. Get Milner on.

After watching these last 2 games, whether Phil stays or goes, we need an additional midfielder. Can, Hendo and Wini don't make a balanced midfield 3. None of them can dictate the tempo of a game. We've been effectively camped inside our half today. We're just lucky we scored first as we have the players to counter attack, and not pick a defence open (nor defend very well on counters with Moreno going on his jollies).

A better team would've put three past us so far...

That defense is inexcusable. Moreno should have to pay for his ticket to watch the 2nd half. And then not be allowed on the flight home.

I only came as far as the first sentence, sorry.

For the first time since this boards existence, I think finally we can say we are all united on one issue - Moreno shouldn't be in the team.

Fucks sake Firmino.

At this rate Barca will be coming in for Mane. Not a bad replacement for Neymar.
