Here's to you... Jordan Henderson...

I've never been a Henderson fan but he's been class for the past 18 months , he's been of our most reliable man in the middle of the park and we've most certainly felt his absence ahead of any of other midfielders

I like him as a person too , so yeah, well deserved as far as im concerned

Well done to him, massively undervalued by many fans of this club for years

Whilst not technically brilliant such as the likes of De Bruyne, he is a key player to the team, and important cog, the inspirational leader.. One of which could be very difficult to replace in the coming years..

Mane should have gotten the award this season but fair play he’s our first WCC winning captain and our first league winning captain in 30 years.

Not to mention the CL and the longest serving member on the playing staff.

Club legend

Looking at FWA previous recipients it hasn't always gone to the most deserving, but I wouldn't say that Hendo is some charity case. He had a terrific season, but there were no real stand outs this season.
Later today we'll see who the players picked.
Young player must go to Trent though.

It just goes to show that if you're a solid 7/10 and you do your best week in and week out then you can win the top awards.

Gillian Anderson famously demonstrated this when she won FHM's sexiest woman in the world award in 1997.

How dare you diss her? Second only to Jodie Foster (who I will cure one day) in my fantasies

Pearce: “The top five: Henderson, De Bruyne, Rashford, Van Dijk and Mane. There were also votes cast for Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Sterling, Wan-Bissaka, Aguero, Traoré, Ings, Grealish, Maddison and Evans.”

Seriously?!

Someone voted for Ings, Grealish, Maddison and Evans? Name and shame I say.

Thoroughly deserved. He led the team to this - we got in a position to win the league by our great start and you could see Henderson's determination in January/February that we were not going to allow City back into it. It was his example and his will-power that pushed us the extra mile. He rightly says that it can be regarded as a team award - it was a determination that permeated the club - but he is the leader and he did a lot to foster that attitude.
I think we would have won it in 2014 as well, except he was suspended from the last 3 games due to a sending off in the 3-2 v Man City.

I think Ings has done brilliantly this season. He’d make my shortlist.

How many votes do they get each? Might have to name 3 players or whatever.

This is the joke award, isn't it? When they gave it to Giggs for half a season and Scott Parker for being an English Cockney boy?

pretty much, but that only happens when there isn't a real stand out. Like Suarez or Salah for instance.

What a player, man and role model he has turned out to be.

"As grateful as I am I don't feel like I can accept this on my own," he said.
"I owe a lot to so many people but none more so than my current team-mates, who have been incredible and deserve this every bit as much as I do."
Liverpool team-mates Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane, Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford also finished in the top five.
On Wednesday Henderson, who is recovering from a knee injury, received the Premier League trophy from Reds legend Sir Kenny Dalglish at a near-empty Anfield.
Henderson added: "I accept [the award] on behalf of this whole squad, because without them I'm not in a position to be receiving this honour. These lads have made me a better player - a better leader and a better person.
"If anything I hope those who voted for me did so partly to recognise the entire team's contribution."

There are people who think Chris Wilder should get manager of the year.
And there are people that should fuck off...

Seriously though, Wilder has done a great job. But if Wilder was named Pereira he wouldn't even be in the discussion. The English media bias towards English players and managers is very understandable, I mean they're English.
I don't have a problem with Hendo getting the award this season because like I've stated elsewhere there were no standouts imo.
I mean if he was given the award the season Salah got the scoring record it would have been outrageous.
So in that sense Wilder getting the award over Klopp is fucking unbelievable.
It's a clear case of voters fatigue. Tired of giving the same old peoole the same old praise so they desperately look for alternatives.
