Here's an idea...

Yup, good idea. I'd quite like it tbh. Likeable bloke and knows his stuff.
Bring back dynasties!

I don't quite get that. If you're talking about attitude and values, hasn't Digger tried to coach in the style that he played? Granted it hasn't worked.

Ask Celtic fans about his style & ethic as a coach. He talked an expansive game then stuck a big steaming pile of shite on the park.

I don't think its such a bad idea, at least I think Carra would keep it simple and identify the bleeding obvious that the other two have missed this season, and he is indeed a great student of the game, plus it takes away the temptation to play him

This is why England has such a shit coaching structure and a severe lack of coaches that are any good.

No don't give the job to someone that has talent as a coach, give it to an ex player because he's 'done his badges'.

Has anyone been following DiCanio's progress at Swindon.
Would be entertaining to have him as a manager.

Carragher as Assistant Manager.

From now. I see little tactical awareness of out this Dalglish/Clarke combo, and by all accounts Carragher has all his badges, is a keen student of the game, and could potentially offer soemthing there. Straight out of the game, he understands the players, has played under some incredible managers, and let's face it - his playing days are close to numbered, he's going down the managerial path anyway and the sooner we get him into this phase, the sooner we can get Dalglish out the door.

Go for it.

He's been a great servant to Liverpool however exactly how much tactical awareness does Carragher demonstrate in his hopefull upfield punts? I don't care how bad this season has been, your over-the-top shows of disrespect to Kenny Dalglish are nothing short of a disgrace.

Clearly Ryan is enamored with his own views, on a regular basis. But that being said, Carra would be good if we brought in a foreign manager, and we needed a local, Liverpool feel for the management team to complement. But until that happens, there are others better qualified.

And whose views are you posting then, your wife's?

Fucking bellend.

I think it would be a good shout, ease him into the coaching side to learn and see how and if he develops. It isn't as though he is going to have massive input but he will have some fresh perspective on things that may not be getting picked up currently.

That might be why we sold Louis to Chelsea
Arf!

Steve Clarke has a face and personality that would depress Louis Spence.

Ha! Weirdly enough, he's started smiling a few times on camera since we went downhill. Maybe it's all part of an evil genius masterplan!

Apologies it wasn't a nice thing to say. You're just posting not like yourself these days, the debates used to be good., I used to really appreciate all your tactical reasoning and actually found it educational. Now, I just see you dis people more often than not. Have a good weekend.

I think this season has brought the worst of out us. I've never actually seen the fanbase so divided before.
Hopefully it'll be better next season. A new start and fuckloads of unwarranted expectations.

Yeah its not like the continent have any top coahes that were ex players............oh

The way some are going on its as if Ryan suggested making him Director of Football, he only suggested assistant manager.
I think he would make a much better manager/coach than Gerrard.
Regards

What a load of shite. Carragher's own style of play is of no releveance whatsover to his "tactical awareness" or how he views the game.

Fuck knows if Carra would make a good assistant manager/or manager himself, as always, only time will. I'm sure it's something that will interest him when he hangs up the boots as he's football mad and talks a good game.

I would have one concern about Carragher as assistant manager and it would be that he is too close to the current set up, the assistant manager should really be the one he is capable of presenting an alternative point of view to the manager and question his decision, make him aware of what potential flaws there are in the team/tactics etc.

Look at Pat Rice at Arsenal, Wenger is a great manager but I think its fair to say that he has lost his way a bit in recent seasons becoming too dogmatic in his approach and could have used an assistant who would challenge those assumptions, Rice clearly didnt do that and this season he is stepping down and Steve Bould is coming in to replace him, i think thats the right move for Arsenal, Fergie has constantly changed his assistant managers over the years for different ideas and viewpoints and its served him well.

My point is Im not sure Carra would be comfortable challenging Kenny and calling him on his mistakes, Kenny is very much a hero figure to Carra and Stevie and I just dont know if thats the right chemistry for an assistant manager/manager partnership. Thats not to say I see Carra as a yes man, but to take that job as his first coaching role and be in a position where he is expected to provide balance to his own idol is perhaps too much to ask

Interesting viewpoint. Carra was always capable of speaking his own mind (sometimes toomuch so, see Arbeloa)

I think that if Carra felt he had to put something across to Kenny he'd do it, i'd argue he loves the club more than he idolises Kenny.

Thats true he has been his own man, but you have to factor in that Carra is the established leader in the defence, where as he would be still learning his trade on the job with an assistant role so to speak, not sure how comfortable he would be questioning his mentor.

That said I think a coaching role is inevitable for Carra but perhaps something more of a stepping stone on the way to the assistant managers job would be better for him at this point

I need a break from Carra now. I just need to not see him as often as I will if he is a coach. It is not a good idea at all.
