Goodbye, Suarez- you go with our....

Loosing Suarez is devastating for us. No system handles a loss of such talent. Every team was dead scared of him and they had to adjust their approach to what would face them through 90+ mins..... Him leaving i a massive challenge for a top four spot and I just hope his work rate has inspired the rest of the team and that we bring it with us.

That's OTT. On the contrary, some of the major European club sides even make a regular practice of renewing their squads straight after winning trophies. It's not going to be easy, but it's most definitely doable.

100% commitment no matter what team he was facing, no 'Grimsby on a wet Wednesday ' worries with him.

Boundless enthusiasm lifted all the players around him every single time he was on the pitch.

He will be missed, but the old ' no one's bigger than the club ' has always been true.

Its not OTT. Systems are well and good. But the system itself doesn't replace that kind of talent. If we loose such talent and bring in another good striker, we are weaker off. No doubt.

However, players come and go. I like the look of the newbies, especially Can and Lazarus. Huge potential in both of them, and they can offer another dimention to our team. So we can build a tronger squad no doubt, but we can't replace Suarez.

Depends on the definition of "replacing" him, we're not going to replace him with a player who's in the top three in the World, but we can, say, bring in a top quality player as a replacement plus another, which would compensate for the difference in quality by adding depth for injuries, or in Suarez' case, bans.

It's not devastating, it has the potential to be if we don't get the replacements right. City won the league last season without Suarez, Chelsea did the double over us with a patchwork of strikers and no real standout magical players. So the systems can compensate, it's more a question of how you adjust and how flexible the mindset of the manager is. That's when you learn about a gaffa's quality, it's where the likes of Benitez and Houllier failed, trying to shoehorn players into systems and mentalities they were too stubborn to move away from.

You're still exaggerating in that first para. If you were right, every team which loses such a major talent would automatically drop back, at least for a time, and history - including LFC history - shows that that's just not the case.

Suarez was an animal for us last season. Over 30 goals, double figures in the assist category and treated every game as if it was a life or death situation.

One thing I'm definitely going to miss about Suarez was his ability to toy with CB's and turn a nothing punt up the field into a chance. I loved watching him roll the defender, letting the ball do the work. You would never think he was under 6' tall the way he carried himself on the field.

Another thing we are going to miss is his opportunism. How many team did he prey on a defender allowing the ball bounce or gambling on the defender misjudging the flight of the ball? You just knew watching it that he was going to catch them out and dick all over them.

Or how about Suarez turning the FB inside out when he drifted out wide? He'd pick the ball up on the end line and somehow dribble into the opposition box.

I'll also miss the sublime moments that put a smile on your face. The endless nutmegs, the outrageous freekick efforts (for example the sneaky effort against Arsenal in Anfield), his goal celebrations with Sterling and some on the younger players and his downright ridiculous moments of skill.

He put us through the ringer with his stupid actions but my god did he give some exciting moments.

Is he? I thought he was just under 6 feet but his height isn't of any real relevance anyway.

Depending on where you read it, he is 181cm or 183cm. I have seen more saying he's 181cm, though. I've seen him up close and he's practically the same height as me, and as much as I'd like to say I'm 6 foot, I'm just a smidgen under.

I like to say that too .. but I'm only 5'10". However in China they believe me.

Another one I was shocked with is Gerrard. He looks/looked colossal on a football pitch, towering above everybody else as he strides past them. Saw him in Garlands toilets once (hello sailor) and he's much smaller in person. Odd.

Ron Yeats was known as a man-mountain, and when he led the team out on to the pitch, he looked like a giant. At an away game once, I happened to be walking past the team bus when the players were getting off. I was disappointed to note that Big Ron looked like a perfectly normal-sized bloke. 😀

They probably measured him in 'Beatle inches'. That's normal inches, with a fraction added on. The Beatles were all said to be 6ft or over but of course none of them were.

I dont get it... is it a choice between Suarez and a decent squad? Does that mean we would not add players if we kept him? Any game is 11 against 11 and in any game you would like to choose Suarez ahead of any other player available.... Hence we will be worse off no matter. Adding wingers or midfielders to ghe squad doesn't change that. If last years sqjad were good enough to cope with more games is not the question.

The day Torres chose to go to those Russina cunts was it for me. I don't give a shit if he goes or not. another load of players will come, some will stick and I'll grow to love them like I did with Kuyt, Alonso etc, some will fail dismally, some will become world class and fuck off. What am I supposed to do with Markovic? If he's decent for us i'll support him, if he becomes world class on our watch he'll leave. Just the way it is now.

This is a similar situation to that Bayern M. were in a few years ago, they were great at home but doing shite in Europe. However they grew a damn good side and before RM or Barca could tear their players from them they had won the CL. Now players want to go to BM because they are a 'power' again. It can be done, we could also do it with the right investment over the next 12 months and if Brodgers can transfer his game to Europe too.

That doesn't mean we have to win the PL every year but at least challenge strongly for the title and, even more importantly, win the CL ! Losing Suarez could turn out to be a blessing in disguise if the money is used wisely and transforms the team. A dream perhaps but then we've already shown that dreams in the CL can come true.

That's very well put. It's been a privilege having him as our player. I know there have been problems but I really like him. Don't really wish him the best, but no hard feelings if he leaves now and lots of good memories.
