Juve send Aquilani back to Liverpool?

It’s reported Juventus have decided not to sign Alberto Aquilani on a permanent basis, sending him back to Liverpool.
The midfielder arrived on loan last summer and has been relatively impressive, but the €15m price-tag is considered too high.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Juve directors have decided they will not make the move permanent unless there is a substantial discount.

It will send the 26-year-old back to Liverpool, although it might not be for very long.

Reports in Italy also suggest that Milan are ready to snap up Aquilani as a replacement for Andrea Pirlo, who has himself been linked with Juventus.

A welcome addition to the squad IMO. Now get Charlie Adam as well and the midfield is sorted.

He's made it crystal clear that he wants to stay in Italy. Fetch him back if Juventus won't pay the agreed price, but I'd still sooner sell him.

how's this good news? same problem as ever, a good player but the misfit of all misfits. where's he meant to play? and you'd have charlie adam too?!

I'd take him back. In some version of 4-3-3 he could slot in nicely in either 3. The front 3 consisting of striker and 2 support strikers free to roam

It is good news if he wants to stay. There is no denying his quality and he's had a very good season at Juve. I'd love him back. If he wants to stay in Italy though no bother. Should get a few quid for him after his good season. 8)

His style of play suits us. He fits in perfectly in our line up and we need to strengthen the midfield.
Our squad can barely cope with injuries today and getting him this summer means that we can spend money elsewhere, like on wingers.

Taiwo for free.
Aquilani return.
Adam for £6-8 Million.

Money left for wingers about £30 Million.

i don't see it. i can't see us playing SG, RM and aquilani. and tbh i don't really think he's good enough anyway, certainly not enough to build a team around which is what'd happen given how unversatile he is.

Aquilani was playing pass and move football in a static, inflexible and stale Benitez side.

I'm sure he could have a future in the Premier League under Kenny - but yeah, if we get an offer of 10M+ we should cut our losses.

Exactly.

My dream (considering the budget) line up next season:

Reina

Johnson Cahill Agger Taiwo

Gerrard Meireles

Aquilani
Young Suarez

Caroll

now or end of season? now would be really handy with gerrard out

End of the season. I guess.

Sounds like more bull from Juve to try and lower the asking price for his permanent transfer.
If he has been as good a people say then we shound have plenty of offers from other Italian sides if Juventus don't stump up the cash.

A few months ago he was saying he was mega happy to be back in Seria A, loved the city, team etc.

I don't think we'll see him play for Liverpool ever again, unfortunately.

Hopefully we wont let juve take the piss with the dollar this summer though

Sounds about right! He has been good this season with them! Fuck them if they wont pay up! Send him back to roma in a swap for elbows de rossi. He'd give us some steel in midfield!

yeah i think we'd struggle with the midfield, but i wouldn't mind:

-----------carroll
suarez-------------mereiles
----------Aqua
--DM-----------Gerrard

or swapping aqua and mereiles. Both like making late runs and both are clever. I think there's potential if they click

big if though

Imagine we had this fucker on Thursday. With no Suarez or Gerrard we're completely and utterly bollocks. We're relying 100% on a Hodgson signing for any guile whatsoever.

I'd take the gozzy cunt back in a heartbeat.

how is this good news?

Want him back at any cost. Even if the club want to sell him. I think a player of his quality is desperately needed. He'd be a better option than Cole.

He doesnt want to come back, and if he's forced to, he'll be shit.

This is a non-starter.

Having said that, I'd rather he spent his time here helping Sammy with the cones rather than letting Juventus fuck us over. We've had enough cringeworthy transfers with the Old Bag Lady.

He's a good footballer and we've paid for him. Get him in the squad. It's squad size and strength thats letting us down now. Last thing we need is to sell, makes no sense.

.. unless his fees are expected to cover summer signings for LB/LW

Personally I'd love to see him back - and if it is painted as a just a season to get our value and then we'll take a lower bid next summer he may not see it as a bad idea. Liverpool do look like they are going places and he might want to be part of it.

In all fairness we are already short in the middle of the park.

We are at the very least one quality midfielder short, plus cp is fucking balls, So I suppose it's 2 short..

Will our budget , ability to attract talent be enough to get two classy middielders of varying styles in?

We've got Alberto on the books, we should probably go all out to convince him tongive the uk and us another go; we already know he's a classy act, why speculate 10m on a replacement? Spend that on the destroyer we need in the middle.

Gerrard
Ming
Lucas
Aquilani
Shelvey
Spearing?
+inbound dm

Jesus, we'd actually have some stength in depth.

Let's face it, Gerard will miss at least a month of games during next season. It'd be nice to not be shitting bricks during the course of that month for once.

I don't mind Aquilani and he did show some potential whilst playing for us.

That said I very much doubt he's by any means the answer to any of our prayers.

Hope this is all smoke and mirrors and we'll fetch a decent fee for him.

we should be looking towards building a quality squad of 22 players, 2 for every position on the pitch. 1 first teamer and one back up but the back up not dropping 'that' much in quality, so if the first teamer is out we don't suffer as a result. the squad needs to be lean and most of all everyone needs to contribute. with that in mind if gerrard, meireles and lucas/DM are going to play most games where does aqualini fit?

we need another defensive midfielder, not another attacking midfielder, the squad is too unbalanced as it is. sell aqualini, get him off the wage bill and put that money towards a defensive midfielder.
we really need to move beyond high earners who don't plan, that makes no financial/footballing sense whatsoever.
