However, Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger has dismissed Liverpool's hopes of signing the German international.

"Bayern Munich are not a superstore for other clubs to come and help themselves to players," said Nerlinger. "No player will be leaving and they will certainly not be leaving on loan."

Thank God!

He should just assert that he'll continue on the sidelines even if they want him to play as he's not in the mood to play for them and tell them that his wife/gf/bf is also unhappy. Should do the trick.

Who can we get to tell the Press that BM should act humanely?

Just get Messi to do it again. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

That wouldnt work, it would still be the managers fault for not playing him.

LIVERPOOL will revive their interest in Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez in January.

Roy Hodgson suffered deadline day frustration when he missed out on four striking targets despite frantic efforts to recruit cover for Fernando Torres.

Bayern's Gomez was heading to Anfield on loan with a view to a £20m permanent deal in the summer.

But the German club's supremo Karl-Heinz Rummenigge pulled the plug following a weekend defeat to Kaiserslautern.

That left Hodgson just 48 hours to switch his focus when £9m bids for West Ham's Carlton Cole, Wolves' Kevin Doyle and Fulham's Bobby Zamora were rebuffed.

Hodgson must now wait until in the New Year when he hopes to not only have the remainder of his unspent transfer kitty from this summer, but also fresh funds from new owners.

He's hopeful Bayern will change their stance on Gomez in a few months.

I'll be ridiculed for this, but if woy wants to play a 442 we could do worse than Kevin Doyle as a target man. He's a poor mans Ibrahimovic, but then who the fuck rates Ibra, he splits opinions more than any footballer i've known in recent years. However, our current squad cant play 442 because we dont have the wingers for it!!

Doyle is a decent player, and while he doesn't have the skills of zlatan, or the goal-scoring ability, he is much quicker, and not a gigantic, big-nosed cunt
