Redcafe is interesting, it's like they hate us so much they've become Man C supporters. They can't even drop their bias regarding the Gomez - Sterling situation.

If their tub-thumping, thick as pigshit, inbred fans from Colchester or wherever the fuck these Sports Direct clobber wearing cunts come from want to boo him, fine, just tell them to fuck off & don't play for England again. Everyone wins.

Yea I noticed that also, blue moons opinions on this however are mental. If the tables were turned they'd be fuming over there but that doesn't seem to have occurred to them.

You know as an Asian who grew up in this country - I really only started to take an interest in the England team since the 1990 world cup in Italy. Since then I have supported them with any conviction, but I have to say that there is a proportion of the support that really only support that team for purely nationalistic reasons - I don't even think they have a genuine interest in football. Yes you support it because it's your national team, but the type of support that that proportion of fans are there for is in my opinion violent in nature or rather see it is as a potential 'hate' the other lot type event.

There have been occasions when I have been out to see the footy with work colleagues where I have been spat on, and in the past (not in recent years) i can guarantee that after a game where you get a load of England fans coming out of a pub - and I am by myself - someone from that crowd will call out 'Paki', or some form of abuse. England games for many is a chance for some to get drunk on a big scale, and to practice their inner thuggery. I have no doubt that the reception that Joe Gomez got would not of happened if he had been white, and those very same supporters that were booing him were probably at it against Sterling less than a year ago.

Also on the issue of hating Scousers - I would say that in the South that hate would have in the past come from predominately Arsenal, and Chelsea fans - but I think it's changing for Arsenal as more coloured people go to their games now. I think West Ham fans are a bit different than most - the guy I work with is very West Ham, and yes he does use the word 'bin dipper' - but does not do it in a hateful way - as far as he is concerned the only members of the England team he will hate more than any are anyone of the Spurs players - I mean he hates Spurs so much I sometimes really do wonder if it gets as low or has its roots in antisemitism. You guys will know better about the North but my boss is from Leeds - used to go to the games with his dad in the 70's, and he has nothing but admiration for Liverpool. I can only guess but the issues are probably with Manchester which has always been a rival city for Liverpool both historically and definitely for football reasons.

Fuck international football in any way, shape or form. I'm not willing to cheer on a group of twats I normally hate in club football just because they hold the same passport as me.

Fuck this shit.

This made me think about a book I recently read that outlined all the inherent problems of the nation-state concept. When Europe used to be divided by crown/empire, ethnic identity didn’t mean much - as long as you paid your allotment of taxes and were loyal to your sovereign, you were OK. Now since the 19th century we’ve switched to the model of nation-states with the idea is that every land has a “dominant” nationality and bunch of “minorities” and that triggered a lot of things in people, from national pride and cultural revival to discrimination and genocide (i.e. the Balkans).

I think this is somehow related to Gomez being booed by the England fans. Liverpool is a city with a unique and proud identity and that by itself angers the “aggressively patriotic” types (some of whom are England fans), because it challenges their simplistic worldview.

Scouse not English. A phrase that winds up other supporters.

There's all sorts of historical, political, cultural, societal, economic, racial reasons, but it basically all boils down to...

Scousers are sound and the rest of the country are fucking thick shitcunts.
Hard to disagree, though there are a few exceptions on both sides.

You obviously don't read the Echo. Shitcunts abound every day.

Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson pull out of England squad to face Kosovo

Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson will miss England’s final Euro 2020 qualifier in Kosovo on Sunday because of injury and illness, respectively.
It is understood Gomez clashed knees in an accidental collision with Kieran Trippier. Henderson missed the 7-0 home win over Montenegro through suspension and arrived in the England camp with a viral infection.

Gomez sustained a knock in training on Friday and did not recover sufficiently enough to travel. The pair returned to Liverpool, meaning England headed to Pristina with a 23-man squad.
England sealed their qualification for next summer’s tournament against Montenegro on Thursday. However, England’s 1,000th international was somewhat marred by the boos that greeted Gomez when he came on as a second-half substitute.
Gomez was left with a scratch on his face following a confrontation with Raheem Sterling at St George’s Park. Sterling was then dropped from the squad to face Montenegro.

There is so much thuggish behaviour you have to wonder at the other possibility that they booed him because he did not knock out Sterling in retaliation.

Anyway my brother in law went to the game and told me that the stadium went a bit quiet and then the boos could be clearly heard and as a liverpool dfan himself was shocked. He went with school children from a deprived area of london who got free tickets from the FA
