Bit of a nothing thread, but there's a couple of goals that really wind me up. They get lauded and wheeled out every now and again and everybody loves them, but not me. Here are some of my choices...

Ryan Giggs goal against West Ham

Absolutely pathetic defending, summed up by Scott Parker's girly little skip of an attempt of a challenge.

Thierry Henry vs Liverpool 03/04

More shite defending with defenders falling over and tripping each other up.

Thierry Henry - Arsenal - Tottenham Hotspur 3-0

Think this got goal of the season one year. Running the length of the pitch without having to contend with any decent challenges doesn't get my vote.

How about you?

You can throw in Rooneys overhead from last season where he clearly shins the ball and has absolutely no idea whats happening but nobody ever mentions it

STONE THE HERETIC !

I think Giggs against Arsenal would be the ultimate for me. No challenges AND he miscontrols it late in the piece.
I dont get it at all.

Redstar has just shown his complete ignorance of the game. That was clearly the best goal that has ever been scored.

By a shinpad

The first time i saw it Ill admit I thought it was a belter but once you see the view from behind the goal it quite clearly comes off the middle of his shin, everybody can see it but nobody in the media ever mentioned it for obvious reasons

this goal:

Cristiano Ronaldo Freekick Portsmouth 2008 HD

He was at the peak of his cuntishness at the time and I remember a big deal being made of how good it was. It wouldn't have mattered if the wall bloody jumped......

I also remember one of his team mates saying in an interview he actually has no clue where his freekicks are going, they end up everywhere in training.

Deary me. Don't you realise he obviously meant to hit it with his shin-pad to take the ball in the optimum trajectory into the goal? If anything that makes it more impressive.

I dunno mate, that looks like a stonking freekick to me. And the guy scored freekicks with enough regularity to suggest he's pretty decent at it.

didnt Juninho at Lyon perfect that style of striking the ball long before Clark Greaseball came along

mos' def.

Rooney created that technique with the grace and elegance of swan giving tender loving to a piece of lubed up silk

Nah, I heard Giggs taught Rooney how to do it.
[/quote]

Ever the professional

Letting a younger player getting the accolades for a skill learned by someone who's won it all and done it all

giggsy is dreamy *sigh*

I feel the "moving painting" ad for The Shitrag, further cements it's place in sporting history as, quite literally, a masterpiece.

BRAVO !

Oh and with El Tels commentary it brings me to tears

beautiful, majestic tears

There was that George Weah goal when he ran from his own half, despite the fact he lost the ball about 70 times on the way.

And Kinkladze from his own half, when he didn't actually take anyone on.

in recent times

that connor wickham goal the bbc creamed over.

it was absolutely shite

i could have scored it, and i'm a fat waster

I fucking hate that Cantona goal, where he just stands there, like a gladiator and all that other guff.

Oh, and when Cantona "saw the gap" in the Cup final against us.

Bullshit, he tried to keep it down (which he did) and our players decided to move out of the way.

Yeah...i never understood all that hooha about Cantona's cunt goal.

Also Xabi's two or three goals from our half wasn't all that great either. Many professional footballers would have been able to score that if they saw the opportunity and were selfish or confident (depending on how you are seeing it) enough to attempt one from there...

Exactly...had Rob Jones been Suarez at the time. Ball wouldve been handled on the line, Jones sent off, peno saved and we'd have won in extra time!

I actually think El Tels tears were very heartfelt and genuine and the fee for that moving advert, a touching and exquisite masterpiece of its genre, went to charity.

It was a beautiful wonderful goal and it truly did bring me to tears.

Shins were only employed by the artist to provide hope to the young fans so that they could aspire to dream, he could have used his foot but it would have made the goal vulgar and less beautiful.

Perfection.

Whilst neither of these were by any means shite, Molby vs man u and Mcallister vs everton are grossly exaggerated in terms of distance.

When I tell someone about the Gary mac free kick, it's currently from about 900 yards out.

This.
Standing there and surveying all the gobshites around you doesn't mean the goal you scored was the bet thing ever. Which is the way its made out to be.
If the keeper wasn't five yards off his line, he wouldn't have scored.
