Firstly, I'm very drunk.

Anyway, it seems many people are justifying Aquilani's piss poor performance because they saw "glimpses" of quality. I know he might come good, but would people be so generous about other players? Voronin has shown "glimpses" in the past such as his first touch being excellent at times, though is not excused from being shit. Degen has been quite promising at times when comeing on but people still say he's shit.

Many people have shown glimpses, from Wayne Harrison to Vladimir Smicer. Alberto was fucking shite tonight, end of.

He may well come good, and I know he's only played a couple of games, but other people don't get the leeway he seems to get. Why is that?

Probably a shit post I know. I hope he comes good. Adieu.

Who cares what other people think.. So just because some people decided to treat Degen unfairly, you're gonna do the same to Aquilani?

Grow up.

Yes, it was a shit post. But I think you already knew that.

Actually, for about 10 minutes before he came off the pitch today, I thought he started to look really assured. Almost, dare I say, Xabiesque at times the way he was dragging the ball back on the turn and distributing quickly. Given he's had fuck all playing time and is adapting to a new league and new tactics (which, incidentally, is why he deserves more 'leeway') I think he's shown enough to suggest he could be a decent signing for us.

He's hardly set the league on fire, but in a team bereft of any confidence or momentum, he's looked competent, and that's enough for now. Hopefully he can kick on from here.

You;re right. I'm just being a drunken cunt upset he didn't turn on the old magic tonight. Mods please delete (or keep open if you'd like to continue the abuse of a highly ill-advised post)

El Principino will come good ... he's fit, but the more he plays the more he will settle in and getting into his groove.

Right now, there is too much expectation placed on his shoulders given our pathetic performances this season.

Against Villa, what mattered was the result - not Aquilani playing joga bonito in midfield.

And it must be noted, he is not playing in an ideal line up.

He will excel when he is playing alongside Mascherano - who will give Aquilani defensive cover to push forward.

El Principo

El Matador

El Torres

Speak English for fuck sake. Who are you banging on about? Do you think people sit on the Kop and turn to their mate and pronouce "Eh lid, El Matador is fuckin boss today"

?

It is IL Principino I believe.
However, I wouldnt mind a multilingual Kop.
How beautiful wouldnt it be to sing to Torres in his own language from time to time?
I am sure the gesture would be appreciated, and reciprocated with even more of his wonderful goals.

I used to have an LL Cool J Troop Jacket

Not like this but it gives you the general idea. Brendan will get it.

Aquilani was fucking horrible tonight.
But still. 2 starts 2 wins. Talisman > quality.
🙂

shit post comparing a £17m player we bought to freebie squad players but anyway, he needs time as he has been out for 8 months

Doesn't play for a year, comes to a new league in a new country and comes into play for a team who've been absolutely gash for the majority of the season. I'll give him an ickle bit more time

Didn't watch tonight's game but I enjoyed seeing Aquilani play on Saturday. Agree with Del regarding the Xabi like dragging of the ball whilst looking where to play the ball. Once he's in his stride I think he'll be a great player for us. He looks to pass the ball early and quickly and we've missed this quality so far this season.
