Glen Johnson

Surprised with how much Johnson has regressed this season.

Was remarking to my wife during the game last night that Johnson offers fuckall in attack now. She agreed and asked me when was the last time he scored!

I remember saying last summer that we should sell him while he's still worth something as he's due to have a huge dip in form.

I had hope for Andy Carroll until the bitter end. I had hope for Aspas until Chelsea, and still believe Borini can be something special. I even believe that Victor Moses could do great things if he can get motivated. I believe that Jose Enrique is good enough to be a first teamer for us next season, if he can get his injury woes behind him.

I believed that Sturridge and Coutinho would be great signings for us, and that Jonjo Shelvey is a real talent that we shouldn't have let get away for so cheap. I've always had faith that Allen and Henderson would be useful players after they bedded in. I have real belief that Mignolet and Sakho will be stallworth's in the first team for the next decade, and that Luis Alberto will develop into a fantastic midfielder.

I don't have any hope for, or belief in Glen Johnson after this season.

Would be interesting to hear if his injury is still at him. He's certainly looked to be playing within himself.

If he takes a pay cut I'm happy to keep him.

As mentioned I think Maldini and Cafu would look suspect defensively in our systems

How about we don't give him one.

Liverpool yet to reach agreement on new contract for Glen Johnson
• Johnson, on £120,000-a-week, has been offered an extra year
• Defender wants his contract extended beyond 2016

Liverpool have yet to reach agreement on a new contract for Glen Johnson, with the defender seeking a longer deal than is currently on the table.

The England right-back enters the final 12 months of a £120,000-a-week contract this summer and has been offered an extra year by Liverpool's owner, Fenway Sports Group.

FSG has reduced Liverpool's wage bill under the manager, Brendan Rodgers, but it is the length of the deal that has caused the impasse with the 29-year-old, who wants his contract extended beyond 2016.

Rodgers is not planning to offload Johnson this summer in the event of the contract remaining unsigned, with additions in central defence and left-back a greater priority.

On a sidenote, read that Sagna was on £60k/week and Arsenal's offer was a 3 year £80k/wk deal.

You have no place on SCM that that sort of optimism. Who are your scapegoats going to be FFS ?

He's lucky he's getting any offer of an extension at all the form he's been in these last 2 seasons or so.

$150K per week is hardly "on a free".

On a 3 year contract, that $23.4M
They pay every player they sign big wages though and usually after paying a premium transfer fee on top.
For city, it's good.
To bring in a different right back of Sagna's quality they would have to pay a high fee and offer similar wages.

Sagna gets a 250% pay increase while having a very realistic chance at winning the title.

No brainer
Sagna's not all that.

Zabaleta's 10 times the player.
Great cover for Zabaleta though on a free while weakening a rival.
Very good business by City
