Hopefully that is his last game for us.
I'm sick & tired watching him meander around fucking things up.

Hopefully we get a decent fee for him.

Ta 'ra, Glen.

Yeah, if it wasn't for Johnson, all the rest of the team wouldn't have played like headless chickens and destroyed the best chance they'll ever have to win the title. What a bastard, Johnson, you rotter!

"meander" is the word . it's weird cause it really does look like he's not concentrating or putting full effort in . Does he still have that mysterious injury ? Whatever , i don't think too many will lose sleep if he moves on .

There's no 'i' in rotter, even when it's in the false rotter position. I'm just relieved Mignolet got a few precious breaks in the season to maintain his tip top form. The team would probably be 10th if he'd had to play every game. And at the end, Rodgers and Pascoe were still covering their mouths whilst discussing tactics - a bit too late for that now, lads, seeing as even Tony Pulis has worked out what you can and can't do. You may as well draw it all out on a chalk board and put it on display.

as lucas didn't play today, i'm happy to lay into johnson. i'm fucking sick of looking at his stupid face. when you look into his eyes, you see the soul of a 4 year old trapped inside an athlete's body.

I don't think he's awful, but I don't think he's worthy of a regular first team slot. And the ludicrous wages he'll want for a contract renewal surely make it not worth it overall? Based on this season, I think a team looking to be challenging for the title needs better fullbacks.
If they're available and affordable is another matter. Say they're available but 15mill a piece, I reckon Rodgers would stick not twist.

The thing with Johnson is that you tolerate his defensive inadequacies in return for the attacking flair. The problem this season is that the attacking flair is missing.

Coming from his biggest defender over the past few seasons, I think he is truly truly awful these days and well beyond his sell-by date.

His redeeming feature used to be attacking and there were times where he was our only player capable of any exciting wing-play. His passing has gone, he's not longer able to take players on, can't cross, can't control often simple switches of play from the other side and just ends up running aimlessly with the ball and either losing it or passing in-field.

Defensively he has zero concentration (down from the minimal he used to have), and the rest of the defence must be shitting themselves everytime the ball gets played in anywhere close to him.

Keeping him as a squad player on a massive salary wouldn't be ideal either, so would make more sense to get rid.

If there is anyone who'd be ok see him starting for us next season, what redeeming features do you see?

Hopefully he'll have a blinder of a World Cup and his price will rise to 1 million and a penny.

'the best chance'? Ah come on mate ...

If that team gets outwitted by Palace and Pulis, they've no chance in the Champions League. But the poor wee things will no doubt be 'exhausted' after that disappointment, bomb out of both domestic cups again (probably with John Bishop deputising in goal) and then the old 'we're still ahead of schedule' crap will be brought out as we try to become the new Arsenal. And I could have done without the Benito Mussolini impression from Rodgers after the game as well. At least it was apt that Newcastle fans were there as well, because we've become kindred spirits - utterly deluded.

Well in fairness, they played like headless chickens today, he's been a headless chicken on and off for YEARS.

And for all the "if that team drops points against Palace", we're overlooking the fact that Rafa's teams regularly came unstuck worse against minnows, yet reached two CL finals.

we lost it mate, in the last few games, it's frustrating and annoying, but lets not forget the leaps we've made. Chin up Macca.

He's right.

Well it's a case of weighing it up over the course of the season, by that reckoning, our "best chance" was blown by defensive inadequacies over the 38 games. Of which Johnson is one of the main culprits.

Let's not pretend that the sole reason for us losing the title is the last 3 inadequate performances. It's not. Sturridge and Suarez ran out of steam after carrying us through alot of games. During the last few fixtures, our flaws were shown up because our attack wasn't able to gloss over the brittle back line. It came back to bite us on the arse.

We've done really fucking well, but the likes of Johnson are reminders of where we've fallen short, the defenders aren't good enough. Him in particular.

Yeah, defensively we've been shit for most of the season. I don't think anyone can argue with that.

BUT we were getting through it riding on a wave of confidence and goals. I said that as soon as we suffered a setback it would completely knock the stuffing out of us and I think that's what's happened.

We'll never know what would've happened had Gerrard not slipped...

Another way of looking at it is that, Suarez and Sturridge may not have hit a brick wall, *if* they hadn't had to work so hard to bail us out over the season. That constant level intensity tells eventually.

Yep, that's part of it for sure.

If we had a right back that was capable of blocking shots and crosses then that would be an immediate improvement to our defence for a start.
