Merson is a dope, so what, but he is qualified , certainly more than we are , to have an opinion as he was a fucking good player.

Johnson is one of the biggest culprits in our current demise. Kelly should have been picked over him .........simples.
£18m FFS if he was put on the market tomorrow would he really be worth any more than £7m or £8m

Not really said anything too controversial. Johnson is a poor defender and is worth nowhere near half of the 18M paid for him.
 
He has played there at times, but it has to mean something that it's never been for long. He'd surely have been kept there by his previous managers if it was the right thing for him to do. That's why I've never bought into this idea.

He played there a few times for Portsmouth.

The RW option for him is a last resort, because as it stands Johnson doesn't deserve the RB spot on the merit.

If he can't cut it there then he'll have to be sold. We cannot justify having an £18M, £120,000 a week player stuck on the bench.

There's no doubt at all that Glen Johnson was a fantastic bit of business by Portsmouth. That said, I still think he's an excellent footballer and before we give up on him, I'd love to see him given a run at right midfield with Kelly behind him. In any variation of a 4-5-1 formation, I think it has potential.

i think even benitez knew at the time that he'd been raped over the fee, but the club was in a difficult spot: not only was he the only decent player pompey had to pay off their debt to us for crouch, but what's conveniently forgotten by the benitez-haters is that chelsea were pushing us all the way for his signing. there was no way we could play hardball on the fee, what with abramovich waving his cheque book around and chelsea being such an attractive alternative destination for the player.
