According to the Daily Mirror, apparently Stevie's scan revealed that his injury is worse than first suspected. Yet he was forced to continue training with England whilst Schrek was allowed home on Saturday night.

Meanwhile over in Spain the Spanish doctor reports that Nando was feeling pain whilst kicking the ball with his right foot but still appeared on the bench for last nights match.

Is there nothing we can do about situations like this?

I rarely buy into FA conspiracy theories/favouritism but I'm pretty pissed off at this. It's so damn obvious, too.

I think Benitez should act more a cunt.

Fergie does it and it obviously works.

Understand where you're coming from, but the time to do that would have been earlier on. Now that the football world FINALLY seems to be turning on Ferguson, the moment has passed IMO.

When the creep announced at the Bobby Robson memorial how much he'd learned from Robson they should have stoned him.

Maybes it's just me, but I reckon Stevie & Rafa are pulling a fast one.

This is pain he's reporting to them, not anything they can verify otherwise, so it's possible Stevie's simply saying & doing the right things but blagging to get out of a meaningless game.

*fingers firmly crossed*

Seeing as he's had groin problems all season I can't see any plausibility in the 'it's a ruse' theory. He isn't up to playing three big games in a few days. Whatever happened with that groin operation last year it's clearly not solved the problem.

Gerrard fitness race for Sunderland
Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Steven Gerrard has a ‘good’ chance of taking part in the fixture at the weekend when the reds take on Sunderland at The Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats have had an impressive start to the season and Liverpool will require as strong a squad as possible to take up there.

Benitez is believed to be disappointed that England did not release Steven Gerrard back to his club as was originally suggested, and the player even took part in a training session on Tuesday with the rest of the England team.

According to England, the decision to stay with England and not return to Liverpool was Steven Gerrard’s.

Liverpool will be welcoming home the European contingent of the squad today. Mascherano, Insua and Leiva are not expected to return to Anfield until later tonight – with only a brief training session before the trip up to Sunderland.

The internationals have placed huge pressure on Liverpool this last 10 days and it will require some effort to avoid a hangover this weekend.

Good news. Hopefully Gerrard and Rafa are in cahoots to avoid the international mid week and he will start and be fine on Saturday.

Any word on Torres?
