On the accent thing. One of my lad's best mates sounds pretty much exactly like Hague. William not Peter. His parents are scouse as fuck. My mum sounded like Patricia Bucket. Her mum was the funniest foul mouthed scouse woman you could wish to meet. Weird innit.

My dad has lived in Liverpool all his life but he says marster and barth cos his stepma used to beat him.

Weird shit the olden days. My nan used to get beaten by nuns in school cos she was left handed and wanted to write left handed

Bitter bhoy. And of course they're a big club. A club isn't in the directors and finances, it is in the support, and like it or not, Rangers have a big support. You're probably so full of hate you don't realise that if you're right that's bad news for Celtic.

Ha, bitter over what? Celtic will happily take 10 in a row with or without their corrupt old neighbours.

Exactly this. John Barnes knew the game inside out, he is extremely articulate and seemingly very intelligent but it all went tits up very quickly,. Much like his football punditry, he was one of the very best at talking through in-game situations and explaining shit, his potential was spotted and he was sat behind a desk to front a show way too soon. The guy has so much to offer football but I'm afraid too much too soon destroyed him.

I think most high profile players can start okay before falling away rapidly, through the managerial equivalent of an adrenaline rush - the big name impact on the players and the accompanying media hype. Look at Paul Ince - did okay with a lower league side, the stories started about what a bright manager he was, he got fast-tracked to a bigger club, then the players got less dazzled, and he was caught with half time notes that consisted merely of this:

If you look at Robson, Keane, Pearce, Southgate etc, once they'd used up the credit that came with their reputations there didn't seem much left, at least as far as bread and butter league teams were concerned. I fear it could be the same with Gerrard; he has eight months' of youth team management on which to draw, and of course a massive reputation as a player. The latter could be enough to inspire the players to give him a good start, and then, well, it doesn't seem promising. I'm not sure Digger was that unlucky - I think he might have done well with a squad of top players, but then so would loads of experienced managers. It takes a rare type to go from playing the game superbly to improving lesser players.

Maybe the club were getting pissed off at him singing like a canary to BT sport about everything to do with the club, and have quietly told him to move on if he wishes to keep that up. So this might be him moving on.

They are only 10 points behind Celtic. Gerrard just needs to ensure they don’t loose the old firm derbies and the league will be a lot closer. There is a bigger gap in the premier league.

I guess it could have an effect on him. He might return with a strong desire to burn witches and drive out Catholics into the ocean.

As I said earlier its a free hit really.
He wont be judged on it would come back and coach the ressies here.

Maybe it wouldnt be an awful thing.
And it would give us a good proving ground for our yout dem

The survey states: “Among the leagues in this survey, the Scottish Premiership is uncompetitive.

"The difference between the average basic Celtic salary at the top of the Scottish Premiership pay list (£735,000) and the average Hamilton salary at the bottom (£41,000) is even larger than last season, when it was ‘only’ 16.9 times bigger.

“To put this into context, there is less of a resource gulf between Celtic and their 2017-18 Champions League group stage opponents Paris Saint-Germain than between Celtic and most clubs in their domestic division.

"Using our GSSS numbers from this report, PSG’s players earn ‘only’ 8.8 times as much as Celtic’s.

“Celtic are paying substantially more than double the amount even of their closest rivals Rangers, and almost as much by themselves as their 11 division rivals combined. So it isn’t a shock that Celtic began the season with expectations they would win a seventh league title in a row.

“It is difficult to see how this will change any time soon, not least with Celtic increasingly locked in to the virtuous cycle that is regular Champions League football - and the extra money it brings, and the extra advantage that provides.”

Won't be long before he's storming a pitch at the end of an Istanbul derby to plant a flag in the centre circle.

It is written.

[article]Steven Gerrard will be the next Rangers manager, providing three issues – so far unspecified – are resolved between the former England and Liverpool midfielder and the Ibrox board.

The Sunday Telegraph reports, however, that spending on players is not one of the outstanding matters and that Gerrard has been assured that he can make a case-by-case argument for cash to be released for preferred transfer targets.

The same arrangement permitted Mark Warburton to sign Joey Barton on exceptional terms and also for Pedro Caixinha, during his brief reign, to bring Carlos Pena and Bruno Alves to Ibrox for wages that were cited as necessary to add exceptional strength to the playing squad.

Gary McAllister, the former Leeds United, Liverpool and Scotland midfielder – who managed Coventry City, Leeds and, in a caretaker capacity, Aston Villa – will move to Ibrox as Gerrard’s assistant if the remaining issues are settled.
The agreement in principle with Gerrard is a further blow to Graeme Murty, now in his second spell as interim Rangers manager.

On Sunday, Murty leads Rangers into the cauldron of an Old Firm derby at Parkhead, in which a Celtic win will assure the Scottish champions of a seventh successive Scottish title.

Murty, who had been told by the Rangers board that he would be in charge until the end of the season and would be considered for a longer-term appointment on merit, declared defiantly on Friday that if he saw the team to second place in the Scottish Premiership he would have fulfilled his job remit.

Aberdeen’s home win against Hearts on Friday pushed Rangers into third place, a situation not likely to be altered on Sunday. Moreover, Rangers’ pursuit of Gerrard has effectively put Murty on notice ahead of a supercharged Old Firm derby, only two weeks after Celtic crushed their arch-foes in the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.[/article]

Nah Celtic haven't been great this year and it's still a big gap and Celtic for the most part have looked light years ahead in the games they've played.

Like Pep or Simone
Exactly, those are the rare cases. Exceptions to the norm. Also didn't Pep spend quite a but of time with the Barca B team. Someone did coach in Argentina before the A.Madrid job.

Gerrard's a bit like that student you think has belatedly progressed from a poor to promising thinker, only for him to stun you by handing in a shaky drawing of a stick man as his end of year dissertation. All those interviews about how he wants to do it the right way, get his head down, make his mistakes and learn from the experienced coaches around him for a few years, and then suddenly he's up for plunging into the medieval madness of Auld Firm games and a club that makes Sunderland look well-run. He really is exasperating.

I was never confident in Gerrard being a good manager. I thought he wasn't clever enough.

I'm not seeing any reason to depart from that view now; that's a basket case of a club in the middle of a contested takeover and its run by a convicted fraudster. I can't think of less inviting circumstances

How do you judge the intelligence of a person you have never met? Or, have you met him?

I'm always intrigued by this. As, I can never tell unless I have a decent enough conversation with a person. And, even then, you get more than the odd curveball.

Apparently he was fine with the under 18s until he started losing two or three of his best players to Melwood before big games. Now whereas most young managers at his level would have regarded that as normal and a useful challenge to embrace, Gerrard went into one of his trademark sulks, and he moaned about it again and again and again. If he reacts like that to a relatively minor and transient problem at youth level, god knows how he'll cope with the daily hassles at Rangers.

4 derby's = 12 points..

3 have been played 1 draw and Celtic won the other two..

As things stand they would only needed to have won those two they lost to be Top..

In fact a draw in today's derby would then put them on course to win the league..

Watching him play mainly, but also his interviews, his book etc.

Several reports say it's done:

Steven Gerrard has said yes to Rangers – and will take former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister with him.

Ibrox bosses have made it clear Gerrard is their No.1 choice and the man they believe can bring back the glory years.
The Kop legend is excited about the prospect of going head to head with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, his former Reds gaffer.

The former England midfielder has knocked back other approaches to move into management including the chance to boss MK Dons.

But he has been unable to resist the lure of Rangers and former Kop team-mate McAllister has agreed to join him in Glasgow.
