Gerrard shouldn't take corners!

Let someone like Benayoun, or even Lucas, take them. As long as they can lob it into the right area. Gerrard's got a good head on him, and a decent jump. Better than Benny or Lucas I dare say.

Kneejerk reaction from our captain's goal against Wolves

Agree with everybody here. When we get a corner Stevie belongs in the area or on the edge of it, attacking the ball. The choice of taking them shouldn't be left to him.

Quite agree. Unfortunately I don't think it is an argument any of his team mates are going to win with him.
I'm always surprised when his crosses don't clatter into the first defender.

Fabio is clearly the best corner taker in the team.

Yeah, at least from the one side. Fabio and Lucas for corners. (If Lucas has to play)

I don't think there's much between Lucas', Gerrard's and Aurelio's corners, which is why Steven should be in open play.

Gerrard is a better corner taker than Yossi and Lucas by some considerable distance. Aurelio has his days but as his free kicks showed today, they don't come every week.

The fact that this argument keeps popping up simply highlights the fact that we're badly lacking in quality in both departments.

The only thing I'm inclined to moan about with regards to corners is the fact that Rafa hasn't banned them from taking it short yet.

I wouldn't mind Lucarse having plenty of the ball, as long as it was irradiated with a short half-lfe radioactive isotope

I shouldn't be encouraging you, but want a long half life, that way it stays in the body longer and causes more damage.

Here I was thinking you wanted to cause him more pain rather than just having him off the pitch immediately.
I guess I over estimated you.

Besides, alpha particles are pretty much non penetrating so at most he'd get no more than a nasty burn and even then only to those areas that are unexposed.

I don't think this is an appropriate discussion for the festive season.

How bout we discuss whether he takes a good corner or not? Or whether Dossena should be spiked with strychnine or cyanide?

See, Darky has the better idea.
And more access the the Schedule 4 drugs...though S7 might be handier in this case.

He took a corner late in the game today from memory (I'm hitting 30 hours no sleep so don't trust my judgement) and it wasn't all that bad.
Didn't hit a defender in the chest, so that's always a positive. Non?

Lucas looked better being able to drop back and cover and he got forward a bit more today too..

Insua played very well and looked very positive..

Torres... SHITE. Why doesnt someone hell him how important body language is. When he acts like that he is just advertising the fact that kicking him works.

The major issue with our corners is the complete lack of aggression to attack the ball. Gerrards header was the first time in months we have seen a player genuinly WANT the ball.. Last one was Torres.

That's usually the first criteria I have when judging corners, yeah.
