You see that doesn't really work for me. I get the idea but it's a bit useless if the first thing your players have to do when they lose the ball is return to another part of the pitch to defend. By the time they all get back where they belong, the other team has scored. They don't wait for five or six seconds for Gerrard and Downing and whoever else to get back into the position they're supposed to be in to defend.

It's not unusual or new. It's called playing on the right. Otherwise every player is basically playing "in a free role" because they don't stay in their positions all the time.
