Anyone see the tunnel cam beforehand? Jesus, never seen Stevie smile so much. He was lit up like a lighthouse when Joe came along. All smiles. Nice to see - and all the England lads were very chummy

Actually, I’d go along with the opening post. The clip doesn’t show it at all but Stevie was smiling and chatting with Joe – looked genuinely happy to be there.

I’ll go further and say he seemed to be happy all game. 2nd half and Stevie takes the ball running round Sterling and heading for the by-line he doesn’t quite get there with Toure trying to cover and Gerrard slides into the advertising hoardings. Get’s helped up by the City supporters – all smiles; looked like a kid out there playing football with his mates and having a great time.

What’s more – he lined himself up for more efforts on goal in this one game than he has in the rest of the year. He didn’t quite get the clear shot with defenders (and Luis on one occasion) closing him down. But the intent was there where it hasn’t been for some time.

Was all good to see IMO; when Stevie is happy and positive he’s ready to play his best. Hope he stays injury free for long enough to show it and make a big difference to our season.

Dead right Wiz, never saw the lad smile so much. I mean, it went on for a wee while. Nice to see - if I find it online, I'll send it, but just have it on the DVR

Aye great to see the normally grumpy bastard smiling for a change 😀

Yeah, it is. But I think it bodes well for the team.

Gerrard all pissed off can become pretty negative and doesn't play his best football.

He loved playing with Torres in front of him and it showed in his football. If he enjoys playing under Rodgers and with the guys he's got around him then he'll perform well too.

That's about the best news we could get this transfer window.

True enough. I know there's been a few false dawns since Rafa went but it genuinely feels like our senior players are buying into Rodger's methods and are smart enough to realise it will take time for them to be implemented.

Carragher also seems to be impressed by what Rodgers' is trying to do and he's worked with loads of managers over the years for Liverpool and England.

Nice to hear Mario saying good things to Borini about us and the atmosphere at Anfield. Considering the stick he's had from us in recent games, fair play.

"When I was with Italy at Euro 2012, I was talking to Balotelli about England, and he told me that Liverpool had the most exciting fans to play in front of.

"He described it as a beautiful experience."

For all his antics I do love Balotelli. The league was missing a character since Maureen left. Not that they're anything alike, but they're entertaining like!

He's actually smiling when Andre Marriner comes along.

His heart is definitely in the right place, and at his best he's a monster of a footballer. It's just a pity he never grew up. I suspect I'd find him inspiring and exasperating in equal measure if I were a Citeh fan.

I love Mario.

LOVE HIM !

His second goal against Germany was the highlight of Euro 2012 for me.

He also set up Aguero for THAT goal.

Loooooooooove him !!!

True, but nonetheless he's old enough to have matured more than he has. If he were still a teenager, fair enough . As it is, he's a man in his twenties who's been given scads of help and second/third/etc.chances, so for me I'm afraid he's running out of excuses.
