Dunphy said he was poor tonight.

I generally follow the rule that when it comes to football and Dunphy says something that is the complete opposite of my opinion, I am then content that I was right

It made me feel physically ill watching Xabi tonight. He was excellent. And as JJ says, Iniesta was superb.

Not only are these guys hugely talented but they work damn hard too. They never gave the Germans any time to settle on the ball.

Apparently Martin Tyler was commenting somewhere last night and highlighted the fact that the Spanish players not singing their national anthem was a sign of a split in the camp.

The Spanish national anthem has no lyrics

In January 2008, new lyrics to the Spanish national anthem, La Marcha Real, were revealed. The Spanish national anthem had been lyric-less since the death of dictator General Franco in the 1970s. But when the Spanish Olympic Committee heard fans of the English soccer team Liverpool FC sing the club's anthem 'You'll Never Walk Alone', it was decided that Spain too should have lyrics to its national anthem.

Ah so being typical thick as two planks footballers its just taking them a long time to learn the words.

Xabi was decent at times but for me, in big games he always seems a liability; the match can just pass him by so easily at times.

Not when he's always got a runner for his passes, and surrounded by quality players he isn't.

there isn't a player int he world who can do what xabi does. it's a fucking travesty that we let him go.

Travesty? What are you talking about? The alternative being....

Not impressed at all. I tipped Spain so up till now I've been hoping they'd win, but I think I just changed my mind.

Fortunately I didn't see Pepe or Fernando amongst them, though could be mistaken.

edit: It's from Euro 2008, not that it makes a difference.

I actually hope Spain lose now.

Me too. I fucking hate Holland though but I'd rather them win. God, I must really hate Spain even though I like 'Spain'.
