Gerard Houllier: My mate Roy Hodgson can restore good times at Anfield

I agree with the general opinion here. There is no need whatsoever to disrespect Roy Evans after all these years by calling him weak. Rather sad behaviour for a man of his age.

Poor form by GH. Slagging Roy, belittling Rafas' achievements, and he is still quacking on about Ginola. I never really liked GH, this just adds some sprinkles to my dislike cake and custard.

Shouldn't think it was The Dude, after the way GH naffed him off.

How did Houllier upset Dudek? Can't remember that
It was said that he ripped into The Dude in front of the whole dressing-room after Diego Forskin scored that double against us for the Mancs.

Well it doesn't take much effort to conclude the text message came from jamie carragher
Do you think? I always figured Carra was very close to Benitez.

I thought Carra was professionally loyal to Rafa rather than close to him as such, but I don't believe this (if it happened) was his work. It could have been Zidanny or, if it was from a player still at Liverpool, probably Gerrard IMO (his disenchantment with Rafa towards the end was pretty clear, plus GH was very good to him both professionally and personally).

it can only be gerrard or carragher, clearly. carragher is the one thats obsessed with football and is more likely to have an opinion on old vs new managers. its not even an argument. steven gerrard is one of the best players in the world, he's hardly going to send a text like that to houllier. if he did it woul just seem a little wierd. its carragher. trust me

I think Carra would value the CL the UEFA Cup..
that's not the way carragher thinks though. he'll believe the uefa cup was a tougher job for the manager because it was all knock out games against pretty decent teams back then. whereas the european cup allows you to scrape your way throuhg most of the group games so you don't really have to manage that well.

hahahahahahah BULLSHIT.

If Ged had said this in a book, would it be wrong of him?
It seems people can say what the fuck they like in their memoirs , but people get all precious about things if it's in the press.

Perhaps it is bad form, I don't know, I don't have a problem with it, but it's open , it's honest and in the main it's the truth.

Good point that vlad. However, i think there is a difference. Timing is shit. Benitez has just gone so comments like this make Houllier sound like he is gloating a bit and sticking the boot in.

It being in the press also makes it seem just that bit more innapropriately public somehow.

Perhaps he is, perhaps he has good reason, I don't know, but one thing is for sure, if you cut Ged in two he would have LFC running all the way through

regards

I certainly won't disagree with you there. I know that he didn't attract the same kind of slightly scary cult around him that Benitez seemed to but i felt a lot more sorry for Houllier when things didn't work out for him.

Houllier in "im really important" shocker ... Thats the Man who wanted applause for finishing fourth at the AGM the year we sacked him. Really classless interview.

Not impressed. A very one-sided (misleadingly so in places) and rather classless display from GH.

Spot on JJ

wasn't Houllier's excuse that it was impossible to compete with United, Arsenal and the newly wealthy Chelsea?

And isn't that a similar argument to the one RCDNWers used last season when he failed dismally too?

They both had to go but at least GH fulfilled the minimum requirement

The playing methods and personal opinions of our last two Managers have soured and divided fans. Most debates seem to turn into black and white opinions and points scoring about individuals while the team is ignored. Hopefully Roy Hodgson's manner and understanding will go some way to healing things after the experiment of hiring foreign management.

This interview is vindictive and shows that despite all his abilities Gerard is still holding a grudge years after the event. I notice that elsewhere he's still on about Ginola and France back in '94! Very disappointing. Anyway my memories of Ged will focus on the treble.

His and Benitez' reign both ended because they'd gone as far as they could. Move on Ged.

Except when he didn't.
