From the Footy365.com rumor mill

Liverpool are eyeing a move for Barcelona whizzkid Gerard Deulofeu, with Brendan Rodgers hopeful that the 19-year-old's friendship with new signing Luis Alberto will help to secure a deal.

Deulofeu has also been linked with Borussia Dortmund and it's thought the Reds will face strong competition for his signature.

I assume this is a loan, as there's no chance Barca will sell him ...

I know he's meant to have great potential, but is he really that good for the now? do we need another winger with Aspas, Alberto, Borini, Coutinho, Suarez and Downing (lol) all being able to play there?

I think we've moved for Deulofeu as the Atsu move has stalled.

More (and yes, a loan - but we should get it with an option to buy):

LIVERPOOL AND SPURS EYE BARCA WHIZZKID
Quick line from the Daily Mail now, who claim that Liverpool and Spurs are duking it out for Barcelona youngster Gerard Deulofeu.

The 19-year-old has been made available for a season-long loan after bagging 18 goals for Barcelona B in the Spanish Segunda División last year.

Neymar's arrival has further limited Deulofeu's chances of breaking into the first team at the Camp Nou and it's thought that he's keen on a temporary exit, with Borussia Dortmund also monitoring the situation.

Also if Delofeu has to pick between Liverpool and Tottenham, they're making the decision pretty easy for him.

Okay, I think I've got this one. He's the lad from the cinema, right? I saw one of his movies late at night on the telly, like, while I was waiting for the golf to come on. He was wearing this ridiculous false hooter. Absolutely woeful it was, like a long piece of Play-Doh. It was as if Jurassic Park had never happened. And to top it off he was babbling away in FRENCH! I ask you! Anyway, the last time I saw a glimpse of the man he was a bloody mountain! He was fatter than Neville Southall! So my advice to you is: don't go anywhere near him. He's flipping weird! Mignon's a good buy, I grant you, so I suggest you now go after this Micturate boy. But no French film stars, for god's sake! It's barmy!

You mean he knows Suso and Alberto and they both play in his position....

Not quite. Gerard is a centre-forward or RW. LAR is an ACM, "false 9" or LW, Suso is a CM or RW. They can all easily play together. But I don't know what's the point of Deulofeu coming here - he is not going to get much playing time in the first team, will he?

Would there be much point in taking him on loan?

Potentially, if he came here got some game time and decided it would be better to stay with us and play rather than return to the Nou Camp to sit on the bench behind their conveyor belt of midfielders. If he came and played for a few years before going back when he had proven himself like Fabregas or Pique did Id have no problem with that

I'm thinking more along the lines of him coming here for a year and then fucking off back to Barca.

You'd want some hard and fast option of buying him otherwise we're just wasting our time really - we don't need him to be competitive so we may as well invest time and money into players that will benefit our long term future as opposed to another teams.

I know what your saying but look at Curtois at Atletico, they know he will eventually go back to Chelsea but they are getting a great young player on the cheap for a few years as part of the bargain. This guys if talked about as being of potential world class standard, I think its a potential win win situation. On the off chance Barca dont want to make him part of their set up because they are stuffed with attacking talent then we would be first in the queue, if hes shite we could send him back in January. No real risk from our side, his wages would be really low

These are freaking gold macca, please continue. I haven't laughed at something on SCM this much in a while.

And back to the topic, I have my doubts that this is true but Deulofeu is the business. He is going to be another star for Barca eventually.

If we were at least in Europa I would be for this move, but I can't see it being particularly useful otherwise. Low priority move if anything for me.

Catalan paper Sport have confirmed the news in some English papers: Liverpool and Tottenham have joined the race to loan one of the hottest young talents in Europe – Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu.

Valencia could make a move for Barcelona starlet Gerard Deulofeu.

Terra have claimed that Los Che are interested in bringing the 19-year-old to Mestalla, and could make an approach within the next few weeks.

The Spain U21 international has been touted as one of the Blaugrana’s brightest prospects, but has found first team opportunities hard to come by at Camp Nou.

And Miroslav Djukic’s men will hope to lure the forward with the promise of regular football next term.

A loan move is perhaps more likely, but the goalscorer could be available for a fee of around €12m.

El Mundo Deportivo are reporting Barcelona starlet Gerard Deulofeu is heading to either Everton or Spurs on loan.
