I don't get the "would struggle in the English league" thing. You're either good or you're not, the team you're in is either good or it's not. Am I right or do I sound like David Pleat? I just think that a good player in a good team will control the pace of the game, not be hostage to it.

I reckon Diego Forlan wouldn't agree with you

I hope this is just media bs:

Liverpool have submitted a formal offer of £12.6million to Bologna for midfielder Gaston Ramirez, according to reports in Italy.

Ramirez, 21, has been on the Anfield club's radar for the last year, and talkSPORT revealed last week that the playmaker's agent had visited London for talks with an unnamed Premier League club.
The 21-year-old has featured for Uruguay at the Olympic Games, and scored a stunning free-kick against United Arab Emirates at Old Trafford last week.
And following Uruguay's exit from the tournament on Sunday, Ramirez is expected to sort out his future, with Calciomercatonews.com reporting that Liverpool have presented a concrete bid to Bologna.
Bologna are believed to be holding out for a fee closer to £16m, but it is thought that they will accept a fee about £14.2m plus add-ons.

I haven't watch the Olympic games at all. I know Dmish doesn't rate him, how has he faired?
He scored a superb free kick. That's about all he did.
Like Dmish said, he looks lazy and isn't that quick. Don't think the high tempo of the premiership would suit him.

Are we still going for this guy ? Last rumours i read said we were trying to get him for fee of 14.2m - if this the case then we should all get together and just cry - this guy was so fucking average olympics.

he was better than average, suarez wasnt great in the olympics either, doesnt mean he's a bad player

No he was not - he was really poor and lazy. all he seems to have is a good shot snd thats it. are u his agent lewy ?

Yes.... let's only sign players that have recently shone in international tournaments.... it's served us sooooooo well in past.

Ahh so we should just judge him on his showing in the Olympics?
If he looked shit-hot in an odd footy tournament the it would be OK.
I don't know much about him but a couple if weeks ago everyone was saying he was great.

regards

I know what your getting at but he ramirez showed very little -take someone like agger who shone in a limited side. this guy looked really lazy and if he was that good then i would expect him to cost a lot more because based on our experience of buying players from italy at that price he must be really shit using aquafanny as a benchmark.

I've always been a bit non-plussed by him. I dislike how we were linked to him before Rodgers got here and I never like the idea of signing players from Italy, especially attack-minded players. The game is so different over here. The very best players will naturally be able to adapt, but from the few times I've seen Ramirez play, he doesn't look like one of those.

That said, he does have the name of a brilliant footballer...

urgh ...i think i'd prefer a punt on wallcott even ahead of this lad .
