I'd much rather we did that looking for all three points (with the potential to get caught on the break) then tamely surrendering 2 points making sure we don't lose.

Aye 3 points, cant complain.
But the main issue from todays match is the obvious defensive frailties. Fuck sake, every set piece had me shitting myself. If we get the back sorted we'll be grand in 90% of the games this season.

I think we won this game because after half time, we pressed and pinned West Ham back in their own half from the 45th minute to when we scored. Usually, or at least last year, we were only doing this when we were trailing or if we were drawing at around the 70th minute. In the end, they got tired and eventually conceded. This is what United do successfully to teams. Constant pressure.

Whilst we should be disappointed with the defending (we shouldn't have to score 3 goals to beat West Ham), we should be pleased with our spirit. We kept on pressing and going forward with belief that the goal would eventually come. Encouraging signs. Now we just need to tighten up and go on a winning streak.

I'm gonna say the opposite. The last five mins we were playing like we needed a forth. We defend superbly when a team presses is so I don't understand why we were "going for it".

We should have waited for a counter.

I know but it could have gone the other way because we played a very open game, I was just saying I perfer that than being compact making sure we don't get hit on the break.

If only Babel had made a better pass forward to when we broke in last 5 mins, it could have been 4- 2 ;D

not that I care but that scoreline would have been harsh on west ham.

No it wouldn't. They got 2 soft goals and we pinned them back for basically the whole game. It'd have been a travesty (of our own making) if we had dropped points today.

History teaches us that Rafa stamps out defensive frailties very quickly. It's a lot harder for Rafa to improve our frailties going forward. Not worried about that at all
