It has just twigged with me how little prep time is left before the new season!

Kudos on our recruitment team for getting us sorted in time for such a brief pre-season.

Seems Villa, Everton, Man U and Leeds (others) are struggling to get a proper pre season in for joiners/leavers

I was thinking the same the other day, it all seems so fast - I think the 2nd XI will get a run out the day after the CS in another friendly.

Speaking of friendlies, Everton are still shite, got battered 4 nil by Minnesota. Mane also scored 5 minutes into his debut for Bayern, conflicted emotions.

He still takes a dodgy penalty, though, and is frequently offside but he’ll be great there. His initial burst of speed over the first twenty paces hasn’t gone away at all.

Ahhh didn't actually realise he got a pen, but yeah I reckon he'll do grand over there. He had his shite periods here but fuck me he was class on his day.

tbf thats unlucky. Deflection made it go behind him
Nah, he’s shite. Trying to score with the wrong foot as well - just needs to dangle his left out and it’s a goal. Remember Ryan Babel missing an open goal at Portsmouth doing the same thing - swing and a miss with his right instead of just sticking his left out. It’s really not too much to expect a professional footballer to be able to execute a basic kick with his “other” foot.

The first few matches are when, traditionally, the quality gap between teams is small to non-existent.

Sorry to hijack the thread but how would your starting XI look?

My team:

Alisson

Trent
Matip
Van Dijk
Robbo

Fabs
Thiago
Carvalho

Salah
Nunez
Diaz

It's either Elliott or Carvalho for me. I'd like us to try playing with an attacking midfielder on the pitch. Unfortunately, it's Hendo who loses out. Not about personal bias, Thiago and Fabs are ahead of him on merit imo.

Largely agree, but Harvey gives more balance to the right - leaving Thiago & Carvalho on the left - so he starts.

Id also start Konate - because I want to see him monster spoonface and laugh at his ugly face.

I would give Thiago more time to get into game shape and start Hendo. Hendo is always super fit and Thiago is injury-prone. Start the season giving sub-minutes before starting him.

Again, the 5 subs are a huge advantage for us and I completely get why smaller teams were opposed.

Yes I think Konate is ahead of Matip but it could be horses for courses with those two. Currently I think Elliott gives more to our front press otherwise I'd like to see Carvalho in there but he's just behind at present.

Yes. Because I wasn’t devo’d when we lost. And it pisses on the fumes “fourmidales” shout.

There is an Upper Twatt Road in the Orkney Islands. One of my old running mates lives nearby. You can buy I Love Twatt memorabilia at the local post office.
There's a place called Muff about 30 minutes from where I grew up. This coupled with it being on a coast and having a petrol station called 'Top' lead to keyrings and the like with 'Top Muff' and 'Muff Diving School' on them.

I was in Cornwall a few years back and went to a Chippy in a place called looew which is a lovely fishing village, but was stunned to find a place next to it called No Mans Land

South Australia loves minge - they have a Minge Way, Minge Road and my favourite, Minge Court.

OFGS there are so many of these in the UK it's an art form. This will be another 100 page thread - so here is a definitive list (well until I got bored)!
