Spidey, pack it in. You're just setting yourself up for a fall.

Hats off to him for optimism though. I wish I could retain some after this fuck up of a season.

City still have to play Villa and Spurs so a couple of draws there would help.
If Spurs, Villa and City drew all their games and we win ours we could do it. That's highly, highly unlikely though
but not impossible.
it's not impossible to win the lotto neither. Stop being optimistic spider

No way should we have been in this position.

The fact we have been so bad yet are within touching distance of 4th just emphasises how tragic this season has been

Oh yeah, I admire the optimism. He's like a little wide-eyed innocent puppy.

I've learnt not to get too optimistic in recent seasons. The falls don't hurt as much and the highs are great and unexpected. Join the dark side Spidey! It's much easier and less pain.

can't help it I'm a glass half full kinda guy.
anyway its make or break next week.

After such a terrible season, all we had to do was win two games against Brum and Fulham at home and we'd be in the driving seat. So frustrating.

Not to mention have the ref make the right decision at Sunderland too.

our destiny still wouldn't be in our own hands.

I think its amazing that anyone even pretends to think we can do it.
Not only do we have to play Chelsea without a recognised forward. We also need Tottenham to drop 5 points against
Bolton
Burnley
Manchester City.

Regardless of what Manchester City and Aston Villa do.
Spurs will get 7 points from that and probably take 4th.

Yep.

I'd still have been keeping an open mind had Villa drawn or lost against Birmingham (as they deserved).

There is a very very slim chance, all four of us could still end up on 68 points then it would go down to goal dif, also to add to that crazy thinking from me i hope chelsea win the league on goal diff now that would be ace
I guess you will all think i'm crazy but i do not care!!! ???

already left it too late. This expecting 3 other teams to implode @ the same time. What's the chances of that. Moreover, destiny out of our hands.

We must beat Chelsea to give ourselves a chance but Spurs must be odds on favourites. We have given ourselves a fighting chance. A home win against Atletico is just the preparation needed for Chelsea.

I don't see why not, albeit very slim chance.

We just require Spurs to get a maximum of 4 pts from all 3 games, assuming we win all ours and pip them by goal difference.

Bolton get a shock draw at WHL.
Man City nudge Spurs at Eastlands.

But of course, that would obviously mean we'd have beaten Chelsea.
And I'm not sure how I'd feel about that to be honest, especially when Manure gets to lift the title.

The best I can see us getting next week is a draw, which won't help either side.

It's a Manc's wet dream though.

Considering how inconsistent we have been all season, we are not likely to bear Chelsea. Especially not after a thursday night game. The odds would rightly favor a Chelsea win too.

Next week will be strange.

As much as I know 4th place is a one in a million shot, I'd be happy if we won and kept feint hopes alive (considering other results go our way).

However, I'd be absolutely gutted if we drew. Gutted.

I'd prefer if it's win or bust.. all or nothing.

I really think I'd prefer us to lose than any other result. We're not going to get fourth whatever.

Our goal difference is now better than all the teams challenging us for fourth. If we win our remaining two fixtures we will be on 68 points.

Spurs:

Bolton- Home WIN
Man City- Away LOSE
Burnley- Away DRAW

Total: 68 points

Man City:

Aston Villa- Home DRAW
Spurs- Home WIN
West Ham- Away DRAW

Total: 68 points

Aston Villa:

Man City- Away DRAW
Blackburn- Home WIN

Total: 68 points

WE CAN DO IT!

It's Anfield. I honestly can't see why we can't beat Chelsea. Our form has been bad this season but against big teams that has never really played a part.

Saying our form has been bad this season is putting it mildly.
That said, because we have no right to expect to beat them, we probably will, perhaps due to the fact they they will probably bottle it.

I envy your optimism and while there is still a mathematical chance I will still hope but I really don't expect anything other that Europa league next year. >🙁

Spurs will beat Burnley, who are already down, and City will beat West Ham, who will already be safe.

We are not going to finish fourth.

We're not going to finish 4th so as much as it galls me, I want us to lose to Chelsea. There. I said it.
