Fortress Anfield?

We always are up for the big games at Anfield, even when we have been shit and out of form we get ourselves up for them, its very rare that we arn't, even under Hodgson we were unlucky against Arsenal and should of really won, the way we are playing we will be bang up for it no doubts.

A big thing is whether we will be lucky or unlucky, some of these games will come down to fine margins as usual, a call for or against us from the ref can decide what happens pretty much, look not to far back to the Shelvey red for a hard 50 50 challenge, that was bullshit and we were on the wrong end of it, look at Joe Allens miss in the last derby, big games often come down to such moments.

I reckon we will win a couple of them fairly comfortably and others will be close, it really wouldn't suprise at all to see some high scoring games either, 4-3, 3-3 etc, how we cope with the counter attacking in these games will also be very important for us.

That was our 2nd home game of the season. We were still nervy, Southampton were flying, we were without Suarez, Aspas & Moses started and Rodgers had a brain-fart and we started with FOUR CBs ! Play that match tomorrow and we'd win by a couple at least.

Many people on here get as nervous as fuck everytime they look at the fixture list. Why ? I look at the fixture list and think .. fuck me, we could win every single match from now until the end of the season ! We won't, but the way we are playing we should be favourites for every match from now on (inc. United away). With S&S we will be nearly untouchable (esp. at home), with one out we are still potent, with both out we are fucked.

I get nervous about every game - because experience has taught me that we find new ways of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory very regularly.

Don't get me wrong, we've done very well this season and improved greatly as a team - but we have a long way to go and we are still very much reliant on Suarez.

Great to see Sturridge back in the mix with Coutinho & Sterling making good contributions.

My thing is - I think we definitely need to add someone to that attacking line that will offer the clinical finishing & decisive creativity that Coutinho & Sterling sometimes lack.

Add that and I think we can challenge for the title.

We are 2nd top goal scores in the league with 51 behind City with 59. The next team has 41.

The problem is NOT with our goal scoring...

It's our ability to beat the top teams that is - ie the 3 teams above us.

Better attacking players that will keep the ball, use it to better effect & be more clinical when chances will be at a premium.

That will also take the pressure off our defenders.

Time was, though, when we would do well against the top sides but lose our way against the next tier down, and IMO that's a more serious problem, because losing against stronger squads is at least understandable. We seem to be putting that right, which to me shows definite progress.
