Flanno charged with assault

If she had appeared on Mrs Merton the first question would have been " What was it that first attracted you to, £1.5m a year earning, Jon Flanagan?"

Yeah he went to town. On his bird's face.
Hey @LarryHagman - Do you really live in Perth? Mojo's in Fremantle is one of my favourite bar joints I've ever visited. I did an open mike gig there once. Little Creatures as well was fucking cool. I had the bizarre experience of taking a piss in the lavs with a massive window to watch all the workers brewing beer. I only lived there for a few months but truly loved it - You ever been for a scuba dive in the Swanny? Great to place to catch shrimps! 🙂

Anyway - Yeah Flanno is a bit of a cunt 😉

Guilty as charged.Community service order 40 hours.Extremely lenient sentence presumably because first offence and guilty plea.

No way the club will continue to employ him. He’s shite and shite players will have contracts terminated for things like this. IF he had any value they’d try to move him on. He doesn’t so they’ll sack him.

It's certainly a contentious issue, and there are conflicting and confusing precedents at the club. Jan Molby served a prison sentence for drink driving and wasn't sacked. Charles Itandje was suspended and had his contract torn up after his Hillsborough memorial antics. I guess the club, like most others, will assess the commodity value and act accordingly. I'd be happy if they sacked Flanagan but then made it clear to all employees that, from this point on, it's a sackable offence for everyone, regardless of position or stature - but they won't do that, will they?

Surely if he was to be sacked they'd have done it by now ?

That statement seems incomplete given the circumstances , sold off in the summer with no more appearances most likely.

On a side note , I'm sure there was someone on here who always suggested his professional contract offered under Dalglish was subject to back handers and shadey dealings ?

I'm afraid clubs, like any other employers will always be swayed by commercial considerations - would we have put up with an average reserve biting an opponent? Probably not, but we did with Suarez.

The really difficult dilemma here is that I understand that his girlfriend is standing by him - so if we punish him (as we should) then we are punishing her financially - for being a victim who reported the assault.

My guess, is that as he's out of contract in the summer, the club will suspend him for the remainder of his contract and be a little bit vague as to the financial implications.

No way he should be sacked, its sets a dangerous precedent. If it was suarez, there wouldn’t be calls for a sacking

That's basically what I said.

The radio phone-ins are yet again allowing mancs and Evertonians to call in claiming that the club previously condoned racism by supporting Suarez. It's really cowardly how they let these idiots continue with that smear. The players supported Suarez because they felt Evra was lying. As with the original story, that fact appears to be too frighteningly alarming to these fools for them to even acknowledge.

I can't believe that he's still at the club.
People complain about Lucas long tenure, but you can't convince me that Flanno was anywhere near as good and deserved this amount of time. We should have let him go before this season.

See wolands posts about his contract

I got it wrong as it looks like the club aren’t sacking him. The claims are the club looked at his admission of guilt and will help rehabilitate him. In my opinion it’s a joke of a decision. I’d have been sacked for doing that.

The sooner he is gone the better.

Shame as the Flanno who played at spurs and scored look every bit an international full back

The club will know they can't sack him, players are too expensive a commodity. What did Chelsea do with that coke fiend a few years back?
Imagine if Salah chinned his bird, no fucker would give him up.
