Favourite non-Liverpool player

Stoichkov.
Michael Laudrop.
Essien.
Diego.
Bergkamp.
Desaille.
Platini.
Zizou.
McGrath.
Canavaro.
Van Basten.

All masterful at what they did... I could watch any of them play the game all day and night.

This is favourite non-LFC players and I've always liked classy players in great sides but not necessarily the superstar in the team.

I've gone for Jairzinho who played in arguably the greatest team of all time, Brazil in the early 1970s alongside Pele. Goalscoring winger with great balance, turning defenders inside out.

Socrates who took the mantle on for Brazil in their wonderfully expressive team in 1982 before falling short of glory v Italy. So cool and composed, he made the game seem so easy.

Another Brazilian I loved was Romario, an amazing talent but rarely mentioned as world class because he could be so lazy but then pop up with a moment of genius.

Alain Giresse who played in the same fabulous French team as Platini who should have won the 1986 World Cup but were denied by the thuggery of Harald Schumaker. A tiny player but so good on the eye in possession.

Maradona of course. Easily the greatest of all time in my opinion. But I also liked Claudio Cannigia in that Argentina team.

That French team & the Schumaker was ‘82 as well.

What a midfield - Platini, Giresse, Tigana & Genghini

But for Paulo Rossi & Schumaker we might that ‘82 final might have been Brazil Vs France.

Have to say - ‘82 was the best (and my first proper) World Cup.

Gerry Armstrong’s goal against Spain another highlight.

When all the proper good footballers started coming over I quite liked the Boro team that had Fabrizio Ravanelli, Juninho and Emerson. Was also keen on Chelsea with Vialli and Ruud Gulliet. I think C4 had the Italian football on every Sunday and I got quite into it, so seeing some of those lads on Match of the Day was good. Pity we didn't sign any as the final piece in the jigsaw.

Italy had some fantastic strikers in the 90s.
Man, I almost forgot Giuseppe Signori.

Italy was a joke for strikers in the 90s/early 00s

Ronaldo
Crespo
Shevchenko
Vieri
Adriano
Totti
Trezeguet
Inzaghi
Salas
Batistuta
Zamorano

That's just the strikers. Discussion for another thread, but you don't see the same level of individual talent in the game any more. Players are better athletes, and the tactics are better, but a lot of the magic and brilliance is gone.
