Favourite ever foreign LFC player

Its a tricky one but Molby, just. He was an awesome player and probably the best passer of the ball I have seen.

Grobbelaar, Hamann and Hyypia not far behind, and Torres gradually starting to overtake them

Its a tough one. I like them all, although Xabi has lost points for the way he left us.
I guess mine are: Brucie, Sami, Pepe, Torres (hope the latter two don't do a Xabi...).

BTW - I think Benayoun might make that list too soon.

Seconded.

If you ever saw the video of the sting operation and saw the testimony you would have been fairly convinced about his guilt - he got off on a technicality. I'm not sure what the technicality is (i've forgotten) but I think his legal team were able to get the video of him arranging the bribe to be ruled as inadmissable evidence in court.

Only 25 games less than Lil Luis if you like.

Anyways anyones favourite 'something' is more a matter of personal feelings than hardcore facts don't you think?

PS He is not on my list just yet. He is CLOSING IN.

I have and you're right. I just don't really want you to be!

I can't remember the exact details of the trials but the whole thing was pretty murky. I think the jury failed to reach a verdict or something.
I do know that when he sued the tabloids he did win the case but only very grudgingly and he ended up coming out of it a lot worse off and not looking very honest at all.

I never felt an affinity towards Brucie because I was such a big fan of Ray Clemence and loved his understated, modest approach so when Grobbelaar came along with his showman/show off antics I was quite nonplussed by his popularity especially as he wasn't technically as good as Clem.

I suppose you're a bit younger than me (most people are) and grew up after Clem's career was over?

[/quote]

Indeed. When I first got into football as a child Grobbelaar was our keeper. I was only a baby when Clemence left.

As time went on I learned more about our history and discovered how much better Clemence had been, but I did like Grobbelaar. He was an excellent keeper and pulled off some excellent saves but obviously a bit weird and flawed too, which rather appealed to me.

Incidently the first ever game I went to was Liverpool v Spurs in 1986 and both Clemence and Grobbelaar were playing. Grobbelaar had an absolute nightmare but we won 2-1

Clem was certainly more consistent than Brucie but there's an argument for saying Brucie was the better bet on the big occasion. In addition to things like his "crazy legs" antics in Rome, there were times when he pulled off saves which I honestly don't think Clem (or pretty much any other keeper I've ever seen) would have managed, like the one which IMO was the defining moment in the first Merseyside Cup Final when he kept out a bizarre "back pass" from Jocky of all people which was heading straight for Brucie's top right-hand corner. I'd pick Clem to win titles, but I might well go for Brucie in a one-off game.

My favourite foreign player used to be Xabi "don't worry ... I'll never play for Real Madrid (2005 Quote)" Alonso.

But now..... I'll go with Hyypia.

Erm, Kewell.

End poll. Lock thread.

Favorite?

Its Kewell and Agger....

its got nothing to do with how they have performed for liverpool. But they are both obviously very talented.
