Would be interesting to know how much interaction Trent & Gomez have had with DCL on England duty - quite nice timing to get a good understanding of his pace, movement, strength etc. on the training ground.

A couple of things to note.

One, I've heard a fair few people saying TAA had covid in pre season & couldn't train properly so is a couple of weeks behind the others in fitness. That would make sense & will hopefully mean he improves game by game.

Two, there seems to be a pattern of sorts emerging in these no fans games.
When teams lose, what would have been a 2 or 3 nil match becomes much more. The team on top seems to find it much easier to simply take control of the game.

Whether it's because there's little fear of dropping a lead without all the fans watching, or whether it's simply an extension of the 'training ground affect' that seems to allow players to convert more chances & defenders games to drop a few percent, both of which are made clear by the stats, I don't know, but it is a thing.

We'll see a lot more of these weird scorelines I think, & as such I'm not as worried as some seem to be by the villa game. City shipped 5 & Utd shipped 6, whilst losing is bad, it isn't the end of the world.

Three, the nature of that defeat & the scoreline is such that the players will have a massive point to prove.

Yeah agreed on the big scorelines bit - could also suggest there is less feeling of responsibility for the mood of the supporters behind you to keep it a reasonable defeat.

Hopefully we have our own games hitting 6 or 7 past someone to make up for it.

Surely Matip will be eased back. His last game was in June so he's bound to be rusty.

I know Gomez had a nightmare in his last game, but he was good in the league game against Arsenal
Arsenal barely tested him, and even then laca got through a few times. Everton will attack us, quickly and in numbers (like Leeds and villa), so I just don't know if Gomez is up to the challenge based off the last match. I think it could do untold damage to his confidence

Every time we play them recently, the weight of the stats, unbeaten in x etc makes me think that this is the game they finally get a win.

This is that game.

The other one, Klopp has never lost 2 premier league games back to back. That's gotta go at some point.

Tomorrow.

It probably comes down to who has the freshest legs tomorrow after all these cunting International games.
An early Everton goal would be brutal for the confidence of Gomez, Adrian etc.

Really bricking it for this game, and its a good thing there isnt a crowd at Goodison tomorrow for our goalkeeper.

I'm growing more confident. Forget the villa performance, we will be unleashing Thiago, Mane & Hendo into that line up, with an in form Jota on the side lines.

Our goalie is made of jelly

We are both saying they’re both shit. The difference is one is a first choice. We also don’t if Adrian will play. He probably will but we don’t know for sure.
We'd need to attack his goal first, though, wouldn't we?

We will start Thiago and Mané. Attacking isn’t going to be an issue.

Yes muthafuckaaaaaaaaa. We’re going to batter them.

No Sadio “Merry Christmas Everton” goal or Origi in this list. Neither were stunning but did shut those cunts up in the final minute. I can’t argue with number 1.

The only really concern is Adrian in goal.

But we have our captain, our best playmaking forward, our world class signing and our CL-winning CB all coming back. Firmino seems back on form. Jota looks on fire.

Everton have doubts over Mina, Coleman, Digne.. and their form has been interrupted by the international break.. they also conceded twice against Brighton and WBA.

We go into this game as favourites. And rightly so.

I expect us to show a big reaction and win this game.

We're either going to lose marginally or completely dick them over by a sizeable margin

No draw

Win. 2-3.

Can't wait to see that midfield firing on all cylinders and Mane & Mo the same up top. With Jota to come on and get his third goal (and our winner) in as many days.

Tear James a new one early doors taking him out of the game and we will fuck them sideways.

Loving the re-found positivity in the forum and the traditional negativity from Hal.

Everytime I look at the BBC sport website I get a chance to watch the last time Everton beat us. No thanks. Just winds me up and I start to realise how the players will be feeling.

We'll come out like a train and smash them.
