Ancelotti has turned the corner with these serial losers. They're in the mix aren't they?
He has turned Calvert-Lewin into a potential Golden Boot winner

Yes, Calvert lewin has a chance of golden boot

No, they're not in the mix. They're in form and played against dross (and I include spurs in that). Soon they start playing talented sides they'll struggle.

I retain the license to change this opinion if they beat us convincingly

Managers don't make a difference - except maybe Klopp and Bielsa and Ancelotti and ... and ... and ...

They are doing well after 4 games, 34 to go it's a marathon not a sprint
And to be honest I'm sure they will bottle it

They're doing fantastic, and that thundercunt DCL is in the form of his life. I fully expect and hope they come undone against better teams, I do wish we weren't playing them whilst they were so flying high, but we gotta be putting them on their place anyway.

They've got a great manger.
Doucoure, Allan & James are very good signings.
I think they can compete for top 4 ...
It will be very tough for them to maintain this form for two reasons:
1) Their defense is not great
2) Pickford is well ... @Hansern - you show them the pic.

We're not doing too badly ourselves, but the derby coincides with players coming back who we would be hoping would be the big difference for us. They are playing well though, DCL is a good player, I've always thought it and never really got the derision, he's scoring by the bucket load.

They have bought well and held onto the good players they already had. Ancelotti has them playing in a more organised way than any manager since Moyes probably. That said I find it hard to make a long term prediction based on the opposition they faced so far. I dont think there is muxh depth to the squad and fatigue/injuries will probably take a toll on them by Dec. I dont think they will mount any sort of title challenge and they are outsiders for the top 4. Would expect them to finish 5th or 6th battling with Wolves and Leicester.

Good start and some good signings. Very thin squad that would be susceptible to any injuries to Richarlison, Calvert-Lewis or James. What we can hope is that they take points off our rivals, have some embarrassing defeats to lesser teams and don't put in any performances against us.

The Villa result will have definitely given a boost to all teams and especially Everton up next where they are at full strength (and now have a very good team and manager) and we are not only depleted but low on confidence.

At Goodison - this is going to be a real test and I can only hope that Mane, Hendo and Thiago returning (and assuming no other CV-19 absentees) will add some stability.

I don't see Klopp drafting in Kelleher for Adrian, likewise I can't see him dropping Fabs into the Back 4, he'll still play Gomez and hope he has one of stellar games and not another nightmare. Ditto Firmino, I'd like to see Mane ---- Mo ------ Jota but Firmino is a mainstay of Klopp's team and he's not going to drop him.

I expect to see (wouldn't be my choice) :

---------------------------- Adrian

TAA -------- Gomez -------------- VvD ----------- Robbo

--------------------------- Fabinho

------------------ Hendo ---------- Thiago

Salah ------------------ Firmino -------------- Mane

Everton have a potent midfield and very powerful/tricky forwards, and with the signing of Godfrey now have a very decent defence without any obvious weaknesses (keeper aside if they stick with Pickford, which Ancelotti may do for this derby match). They could well line up as :

------------------ Pickford or Virginia (too early for Olsen)

Coleman ---------- Mina ---------- Keane --------- Godfrey

Doucoure ------------------ Allan ------------- Gomes
---------------- (Davies if Allan still injured)

Rodriguez ------------ Calvert-Lewin ------------- Richarlison

Everton may have won 4/4 so far though not against the strongest of opposition (Spurs, WBA, Palace & Brighton), though they have eventually dispatched them all relatively easily bar Spurs and even then out-shot them (15-9). This is clearly the game of the season so far and it's going to be a major test of both teams.

Not so sure that Digne will be dropped or Godfrey.

I'd like to see us go similar to the Chelsea game (even though it was 10 men) and have Fabs at CB, Thiago, Hendo (for naby in the chelsea example) with Gini roaming a bit more freely forwards. Keep control, great footballers with composure all over the pitch.

Everton have started brightly and made some good signings. They wont be in the top given they have a paper thin squad, a shite keeper and a not to good defence. But, this season is a weird one. Wouldnt surprise me if they are in about 6th place come the end.

They looked all over the place and toothless once James went off against Brighton. Take him out of the game and we should easily beat them.

He won't last these two weeks without getting injured. He's worse than Matip / Alisson / Shaq

This will be a real fight, so I would go for

------------------------ Adrian---------------------------

TAA -------- Matip(If Fit) -------------- VvD ----------- Robbo

--------------------------Henderson--------------------

------------------ Jones---------- Thiago---------------

Salah ------------------ Firmino -------------- Mane

Fab, looks one paced, and believe that Henderson would (On this occasion) provide better cover. I aslo believe you will get that bit extra from Jones being a Liverpudlian in a Merseyside Derby

Going to be weird seeing evertonians happy after playing us

They’re going to be fuming. I’m hoping for a wounded animal kind of reaction. One way to get over a 7-2 defeat is to win a derby 7-0.

After the Villa game it feels a longer way off than usual, but our performances against Arsenal & Chelsea were dominant and it would be poetry to smash them when they are having their absolute best ever start to a season and we have just had 7 put past us.

Both arsenal and Chelsea sat off us though, and both of them still had decent opportunities

Everton, like villa, are going to be hunting in packs and pressing

I feel like some people on here think it'll be easy

We've conceded 10 goals to villa and Leeds, and only 1 from arsenal and Chelsea

You'd think we could see where the issue is

[article]Everton have made a flawless start to the new season, securing 12 points from their first four games after looking fluid and potent in attack, averaging 2.32 xGF per game.

Despite the fact that Liverpool and Tottenham having created more opportunities, Everton lead the league in terms of non-penalty big chances.

The Toffees have created 11 non-pen big chances, suggesting that when they do venture forward, it’s done with efficient purpose.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s ferocious start to the new season has been instrumental in Everton’s success, with the forward recording a league best 1.10 xG/avg match.

Furthermore, Calvert-Lewin has taken just 15 shots in the Premier League, six of which have been non-pen big chances (>35%) - this makes the forward, rather amazingly, responsible for over 50% of the club’s big chances.

The addition of James Rodríguez has also no doubt been a contributing factor to Everton leading the way on this metric, with the Colombian at the heart of everything Carlo Ancelotti’s side do, already recording two assists (2.11 xA).

If we play with our defenders taking up a starting position on the halfway line again we will get ripped a new one. A more pragmatic approach is required because they will happily sit deep and draw us upfield to quickly release Richarlison and Calvert Lewin into space behind Trent and Robbo.
