While loads of us were crying about the VVD fuck up last summer the player I really wanted us to sign was Salah, primarily because I remembered how we missed Mane when he wasn't in the side over Christmas. Nobody thought Salah was gonna be as amazing as he is, he was bought to add squad depth. The fact that he came without a massive price tag meant fuck all...
Shaquiri hasn't been pulling up trees at Stoke obviously but maybe just maybe moving to a bigger club will inspire him to do better.

He was surrounded by Stoke players. He was never going to be pulling up trees surrounded by them. I'm more impressed by his stats in such a dismal environment. Scoring eight goals with seven assists for a team that managed to hit the net only 35 times and got relegated - that's not too bad. His interceptions, especially, are very impressive, and I think it's something that would have endeared himself strongly to Klopp. And he'd strengthen the squad. We HAVE to do that this summer, and as a minor signing he'd be decent enough so long as we get out best targets sorted out as well.

Shaq will be relatively cheap, a different midfielder altogether from our CL finals bunch and could actually score goals.
Even if he flops we could easily get back half of our money. We also seemed pretty stocked on midfielders now so he is not a must-play if he turns out half bad.
