England Vs South Africa - Cricket Tour 2012

105/5 and we end up with 260 odd runs? Not bad at all.

Those extra runs wont matter when England post 500 Whizram 😉

Basically England could not let South Africa be 350 - 2 today or else this series would be over. Yeah the middle order / tail has wagged well today and England have to get them early which I think they will.

Well the England bowlers have a new-ish ball to work with in the morning, so I live in hope! 🙂

307/9 with Philander & Tahir batting ... Been an excellent display from the tail of the order ... Hopefully, it's enough to get us through the test.

This could get a bit messy for England. There still looks to be plenty in the pitch. Ball is only 10 overs old. Trott needs to bat like a beast for the next say 20 overs after lunch. This will be a crucial session for both teams I reckon.

What's weather forecast like mate?

309 all out ...

This gritty fight back stuff, is a feature of all Kirsten teams i think. I really really rate him as a coach. He has absolutely no ego, and goes about his job in the best possible way....and players really fight for him.

India, who have kinda always meekly surrendered when things didn't go their way, pulled out come from behind victories left right and center under Kirsten. Take the man out of the team, and we have the 4-0 whitewash in England. In the first test, they were very much in the game till the second day...then an injury to Zaheer completely exposed their soft under-belly.

Looks like this is going to be a tight one. Fair play to Bairstow, it couldn't have been easy coming in in that situation + with the whole KP thing.

So then, how's it going to look come the second innings? I think England will be about 30 runs behind.

Yeah - Bairstow and Prior only have 8 overs batting with the old ball in the morning before the new ball is due. They will do well to survive the new ball, so I would settle for England finishing up 30 runs behind.

Jesus! It's scorching here in London today. It's 10.30 and already it's 27 degrees. Only going to get hotter as well. Perfect batting conditions. My prediction is a fairly quick tumble of wickets seeing as though Prior is the last recognised batsman. If they get within say 30 runs of SA's total that would be ok I guess. Then it's help yourself time for the SA batsman I'm afraid.

The only thing that can prevent this is if a particular England bowler steps up to the plate. For example, if Swann finds some bounce and turn in the wicket, or Jimmy Anderson is able to make the ball swing both ways. I don't want to spend Saturday on the sofa watching Smith and Amla occupying the crease!! 😀

Broad is due some runs today, i can feel it in my bones.

If he gets a bit of luck, Broad could score heavily off the likes of Morkel with his short, wide deliveries. Likewise Swann. I always enjoy both of them batting when they are on song. 🙂
