Liverpool macht bei Shaqiri ernst – 12 Mio. für Can

17.05.2014 - 13:04 Uhr
Demnach macht Trainer Brendan Rodgers ernst.

The championship in the Premier League has Liverpool FC missed , but qualifying for the Champions League managed to loose . Now the Reds for next season want to upgrade . German media reports of the transfer plans of the traditional clubs - and in which plays loud "Guardian" Xherdan Shaqiri Bavaria an important role. Accordingly makes coach Brendan Rodgers seriously. He wants the Swiss, who may have become champion with Bayern , but it was used only irregularly , necessarily bring to Anfield . Rodgers was a huge fan of Shaqiri , they say. Shaqiri himself had indeed repeatedly flirted later this year with a change and called for more use of time , but said recently on a fan event in his home country , he remains one more season at Bayern . According to information from SPORT BILD online the change from Leverkusen Emre Can the Reds is as good as perfect . The fee amounts to approximately 12 million euros .

Bleacher Report made a comparison to Michael Ballack, which is quite the compliment. Apparently he can also play at LB... bit random.

On a sidenote, Leverkusen just signed him in Aug 2013 and Bayern Munich has a buy back option (which they can activate in 2015).

[article]"Emre Can is one of the biggest talents in German football. We’ve taken this step to ensure he gains sufficient match practice, as we’ve done in the past with the likes of Toni Kroos at Leverkusen, Philipp Lahm with Stuttgart and David Alaba at Hoffenheim," Rummenigge commented on the move.[/article]

[article=http://www.shoot.co.uk/shoot-scout-emre-can/]He may have played for Bayern Munich last year, but eight months after he left the European champions, Emre Can has made a name for himself in the Bundesliga.

Since joining Bayer Leverkusen, the versatile midfielder has gone from strength to strength and has seen his overall game improve thanks to the amount of first-team action that he has got this term.

Can joined Leverkusen in August 2013 on a four-year deal which includes a buy-back clause for Munich if they decide that he is worthy of re-joining the club that gave him his break in professional football.

The 20-year-old has always got a trick up his sleeve to get him out of tight positions, and loves taking on full-backs when he is playing out wide, usually on the left-hand side.

The German can also play at left-back, and based on what he has shown the world this season, both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League, it is hard to see why the German and European champions let such a talented young home-grown player leave to join a rival side.

Can’s range of passing as well as his ability to track back and defend make him a good utility player for any club, however for him to become one of the best midfielders in Germany, he will need to improve his shooting after only managing three goals in 39 games so far in his short career.

At international level, Can has played for Germany at every youth level and his impressive performances so far this campaign have earned him his first appearance for the under-21’s under boss Horst Hrubesch, and he has now earned a total of six caps.

Can captained Germany’s Under-17 team in the 2011 Under-17 World Cup, and led them to a third place finish after losing in the semi-finals to eventual winners Mexico.

If Can continues to progress as well as he has done over the past year, it will not be long before he is wearing the national colours of the senior team, but this year’s World Cup is probably out of his reach unless the Germans suffer a few injuries in the midfield department.[/article]

So it'd make sence for them to sell now. Good stuff.

He is a DM, it's not his job to score goals. If we were to replace Lucas, it should be with a player like this – a young talent who doesn't mind to be Gerrard's understudy and occasional partner. One bad thing about Lucas is that he is not very compatible with Gerrard 2.0 – they are both not very quick nowadays and both rely on positional sense rather than athleticism to defend, which is fine when they play with Henderson and Allen – but whenever they play together, they can't cover much ground and our midfield "sags" deep, inviting pressure. Perhaps a younger, more athletic player could be a better partner for Gerrard in those instances when Rodgers wants to use a "defensive" midfield set-up with 2 DMs and 1 CM.

Looks like a player Rodgers would love to turn into Gerrards replacement with time.
Needs games to develop but will get that with the amount of games we're playing next season.

His versatility is also a bonus obvs. Can play lb, dm, cm and am. Perfect replacement and improvement on Leiva.

I'm sure he can play RB too, maybe he just didn't need to cover that position yet. I think he is right-footed.

I don't think he is an improvement on Lucas. With time, maybe – we'll see. But at this point whatever physical advantage he has over Lucas will be counterbalanced by lack of experience. Don't underestimate Lucas; he really knows all the nooks and crannies of playing DM.

Looking at Binny's stats reminded me of something else I want to say about Can – he doesn't cover a lot of ground. He is physically strong and can be pretty fast when he wants to be, but most of the time he plays a more controlled game. So he is the anti-Henderson actually.

Yeah, I agree. I meant in terms of what he offers to the squad. Lucas is pretty limited and with Gerrads new position he cant play any other positions with any effect.

Bought Emre Can from Bayern München on football manager 2013, he was decent but he didn't develop as well as I hoped.

In every clip I've seen of him he looks clumsy and very erratic in possession. Granted he's very young, and would be Gerrard's back up for at least a season, but he looks very much a long term project. Looks a great athlete, though.

Funny, I think his technique looks quite good actually. His passing however does look quite erratic.

Agree that he'd be a project though - he's only 19 - but I think there are some interesting tools to work with. I'd certainly prefer him to Carvalho who's looked mostly awful in every clip I've seen of him.

This position we're trying to fill is a little tricky - there aren't too many stand-out young prospects. The prime candidates (Martinez, Witsel and Nainggolan) would cost shitloads; and middle of the road players (someone like Song, Parejo or Matuidi) are probably not significantly better than Lucas.

Maybe Emre Can't

Bundesliga - Liverpool move for Can set to be blocked by Bayern

Liverpool will likely be thwarted in their bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Emre Can because Bayern Munich have a buy-back clause for the player.

Emre Can (Leverkusen)

The Reds have been heavily linked with the German U21 international who can play either left-back or left midfield with Bild reporting a €12m transfer for the 20-year-old was close to being completed.
However, Eurosport Germany say that Liverpoolwould struggle to complete the transfer as they would need the consent of Bayern Munich.
"We've heard about the rumours" our Munich office told us.
"He is a big talent and still only 20 years old. He has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Leverkusen. He is quick and technically very good.
"He came from Bayern Munich to Leverkusen last summer for €5 million but Bayern may re-sign him for a fixed price.
"Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (Bayern CEO) has already said he wants him back in a few years and said the only reason they sanctioned the move to Leverkusen was so he could get some match practice.
"For that reason we don't believe he'll go to Liverpool. Leverkusen need the consent of Bayern and Bayern doesn’t want to give it."
Can has won six caps for Germany's U21 team but is also eligible for the Turkish national team.
He played four times for Bayern in the Bundesliga before moving to Leverkusen where he has been a regular this season.

A buy back close surley cant block a move to another club? That sounds liks bs.
Maybe to another German team but that sounds very strange.
