As a few people have said this idea is both romantic and very logical. A rarity in this cynical age..

Its completely backed up by facts.

For that reason, I would like to sign-up Paleeeease.

our winning the league next season has an element of logic and backed is up by facts?

you unlock this door with the key of imagination. beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. you're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. you've just crossed over into - the twilight zone.

[/quote]The fact that despite missing our talismatic skipper for the majority of matches and having countless other key players injured Kenny's Liverpool have only been out scrored, points wise, by Chelsea and Man U.
Couple that with the expectation that our team/squad will be greatly strengthened in the summer and you have your logical argument right there.

not even spider logic has us winning the league next season.

I want to know when I'm going to be let into the inside joke where every forum member of 6CM except me thinks that 'somehow' we're going to win the league next season.
not squeezing into a CL place, not being in the race until jan, not pushing the eventual winner close, actually WINNING the thing. with oncy's infectious optimism I allow myself to dream for 0.002 of a second and then I take a cursory glance at the league table and come crashing back to reality with a bump, like I suspect most of you guys will as early as december.

I think this is my last word on this thread (unless someone asks me a question), this thread will slide down the forum and eventually disappear. I really (really) hope that in may 2012 it gets dragged up again (as is 6CM want) and I have my face well and truly rubbed into it as gerrard lifts the premiere league title...but somehow I very much doubt that...

Nobody thinks it's a foregone conclusion Neil, just a very real possibility.

Tell me, do you believe that:

a) Kenny took over a team devoid of confidence.
b) He has had to cope with injuries to key players
c) Our form since Kenny took over is that of title challengers
d) We are most likely to strengthen some key areas of the side this summer with a mix of top-class and potentially top-class players.

If you can answer yes to the above then you're in.

I read that and think there is genuine cause to be optimistic about the future, I read that and think we can really close the gap on the leaguers, I however don't read that and think we can finish top of the pile. to win the league next season would be nothing short of a miracle. what are our odds? that's why you never see any broke bookies.

No odds I can find as yet mate, but they'll probably be in the region of 10-12/1 and shorten to about 6-7/1 as we sign decent players. I'll be having a tickle as soon as they are quoted no doubt.

I don't think it requires a miracle according to the four statements above; Kenny has worked something of a miracle already - it just requires a consolidation over the summer.

absolutely, a consolidation to confirm a position in the top four.
if in the summer FSG went out and as a statement of intent bought 4 world class players who went straight to the first THEN I could see why people are saying 'champions' but now? no chance. let's see who we buy first.

If thie thread slides down the forum and eventually disappears, it will be because those of us who believe Kenny WILL do it will have been proven wrong. But so what?

For NOW we believe we will, and I don't see any reason why we shouldn't.

We;re playing well, and there's a massive spirit of belief going around, and it's real.

Will we have as much money as others?

Probably not, but if we buy well then it's all for the taking.

For NOW i BELIEVE WE WILL LIFT 19.

I also believe that in a matter of months we'll be needing a 3rd Platoon.

If we sign a player of the calibre of Neymar we'll be talking regiments, not platoons. If we sign Downing and Barton we might end up with a few deserters.

I'd be lying if I said that didn't make me giggle 😉
I have to say though at the start of the season I said we'd finish 6th (and we'll finish there abouts) and two seasons ago when virtually the entire forum wanted rafa's head on a plate in the winter I said keep the faith and we narrowly missed out on the league by 4 points. so my league predictions whilst not spot on are pretty darn close.

As the count has so eloquently put it, things can *logically* only get better. We'll have Gerrard back in August, we'll have some new signings, signed by a great manager. We'll have youth coming through with more experience. Our players will be rested, Suarez will have had a chance to have a few pints with Carroll, and Robbie Keano (brought back as a team bonding specialist).

Add in a feel good factor, new owners, and lots of statistical analysis.

Additionally, based on Kenny's performance since he came in, if this season is repeated (and I see now reason why it won't), then we'll have the league in the bag by March of next year....

*Now if it was Europe, we were talking about, I would feel differently...Kenny still has to grow into a European manager*

Maybe bring Rafa back for the midweek games?

everyone is anal on a forum but dragging up old threads is plunging new depths.
for instance I disagree with oncy now and again but I don't go hunting down his thread where he says 'all alonso does is pass' everytime we get into an arguement, I don't go hunting down ryan's thread where he praises the merits of hayden mullins, that would be sooo mature.
I was genuinely taken aback when I had to read my opinion on the physical build of a CM (a pretty pointless arguement in the first place) said a YEAR ago.
come may, if we don't when the league (if? ha ha) I wont be a total fucking arse by dragging up this thread and saying 'what the fuck were you guys smoking' because that's pretty fucking petty.
