Drogba vs The Greek ?

As dogbreath has given Carra, Skittles, Sami and other Reds defenders a complete beating in the past is it time to give the Greek a chance against him?

He has played some blinders against us as I doubt whether Carra or Martin could handle him especially Carra nowadays.

Kyri has to play and be responsible for marking Didier.

Thoughts....

Is he turning out to be a really decent signing.

Drogba will pwn the greek. Too slow. It'll be like that game where he analized Hyppia.
I think Skrtel is the best bet vs Drogba.

He might take Drogba out of the game, but there is no way Lucas will be able to stop Gerrards nice throughballs anyway.

THis seems to work on the assumption that Drogba is an Andy Carrol like battering ram even though he has repeatedly show against us that he can score all kinds of goals with pace power skill and close control, in fact he rarely scores battering ram type goals anyway so I cant see the Greek being useful againsnt him, not quick or mobile enough. Carra and the Greek against Chelsea will be murdered for pace by Drogba Anelka and Malouda

Well at least we will not be annoyed by the annual "handling in the box not given" by that Carvalho guy!

I'd like to see Kyrgiakos given a shot at Drogba. What's the worst that can happen?

Turned Hyypia was unwell that day against Drogba, but a halffit Sami was a better option than whatever we had on the bench...

Indeed but only if they have space to use their pace. That is why we need Kuyt to be fit for this match and our midfield to shield the defense and keep the space at the minimum(If we had Mascherano instead of Lucas/Poulsen I'd be a lot more confident). Kyrgiakos has to play as he is our only defender who can contain Drogba in the air even if there is a lot more to Drogbas game. Who knows, if we can keep things organized at the back and Torres/Gerrard plays a blinder we might even sneak it. That said we'll probably end up losing but it's far from certain and I think people are painting a bit too bleak picture of our chances in this one.

If Carra is going to be stuck at FB, then it's The Greek and Skrtel for me.

Soto limped off todays training session as he felt something in his groin. Hopefully he'll be fit for sundays game.

Was it a gallon of semen, or the putrid remains of his mother whom he absorbed into his body during her pregnancy?

There's no way Dogbreath has "owned" Skrtel. On the contrary, he tried to bully Skrtel and failed miserably. Skrtel's also a fair bit quicker than Kyrgiakos and would IMO be a better bet to go up against Dogbreath again, though like Squiggles I'd play both of them if Carra's needed out wide.

[/quote]Apparently he felt his groin a bit during training.
Its nothing that probably all us lads hasn't done from time to time.
He should be fine for Sunday.

I think it's a given that the Greek has been one of our better defenders this season, but that says it all. Drogba will have him in his back pocket!

Not necessarily. If Drogba runs at either Kyrgiakos or Skrtel he'll defo cause them problems, but I don't fancy his chances if he takes either of them on in a straightforward trial of physical strength.

Kyrgiakos and Skrtel will do well against the Chavs.

Skrtel is strong, quick and aggressive in the challenge. Positioning is his weakness.

The Greek is a beast in the air and won't be over powered. His weakness is pace.

So far they have been our best centre half pairing and are improving with each game they play together.

Drogba and Anelka will give them a torrid time. Its gonna be a battle but the war will be won in the middle of the park.

I've only ever seen one centre back bully Drogba out of a game. It was Skrtel at Anfield in the CL semi we lost on account of Riise's OG.

I've never seen a better performance against Drogba, and I'd love to see another one.

Agreed, Skrtel was immense in that game.

Yep, wasn't he out of the 4-4 game aswell, or didn't he go off injured?

As for Drogba, well he's bullied all of our centre backs at some point.

Went off injured I think

Hmmm, I'm far more concerned about Malouda making a cunt out of Carragher than Drogba bullying Skrtel or Kyrgiakos.

Johnson will be back so I guess you can worry about Malouda making a cunt out of him instead.

He's injured at the minute.

Hopefully he doesn't make it back in time.

EDIT: Malouda that is although I wouldn't be too bothered if Johnson wasn't available either

He'll play Carra at right back.
