A month or so ago, I booked a villa to rent for eleven days in the Silver Coast, Portugal, for the family holidays at the end of June and secured it with a deposit.
Today I got a phone call from the owner saying that there has been a misunderstanding, that it has been double booked and as I was the last to book I would miss out. It seems a bit odd to me and I am suspicious that she is trying to pull a fast one and just give it to a friend or a regular visitor etc.
Has this ever happened to anyone else and what did you do?
Any advice from all the legal people?
