Doesn't sound too promising this. Last summer we were told how great Dossena was (and indeed - how can he not be great if he is an Italian international defender) and now this lad.
Why would Juventus get rid of such a promising talent? Is he any better than Aurelio and Insua?
Let's just take the money and say goodbye to Dossena.

Can we keep Dossena instead of selling him for some beans and another italian left-back?
I think Rafa is too quick to get rid. Having already paid for Dossena's mistakes this season in lost points perhaps the 'acclimatized' Doss will step up.

Nope.

Sell to generate funds, especially since we can get a decent amount for him from the Italian clubs.

Insua and Aurelio should be sufficient.

I always feel that its rather percarious to have two 1st-team south-american fullbacks.. If their international travels take one of them to bolivia and the other to venezuala we'll have two tired players to choose from.

It seems that Dossena is set to leave... hopefully Aurelio retires from international football

For what it's worth, the "N.Wales Daily Post" is reporting that Dossena's asked for a transfer.

good on him then... normally players wanting to leave would sit on their hands for a payoff.
YNWA Doss... Always felt that you were worth another season

Not as a fullback, surely. At a pinch he could have been a stand-in for LM.
[/quote]

That's where i don't agree judge, why play a player who has been playing at LB all his life else where?
Granted he was atrocious when he played for us there but shouldn't he be granted a settling first season in the EPL?

Anyway it's rather a moot point now that it seems that he is leaving. Though i believe that his leaving is more of the player himself and Rafa having an easy choice in the matter after Dossena's start in liverpool colours.

This is one of the silliest transfer windows yet. It seems as though every day brings a new contradiction. Barmy.

The agent of Andrea Dossena insists the Italian fullback isn't actively seeking a move away from Liverpool.

Roberto Lo Florio told Tuttomercatoweb: "He did not mean what was printed in the newspapers.

"In England he is well placed, has a beautiful house, his wife is happy and so the situation is not so serious. It's normal that if an offer arrived from Juve, we'd think. If it were another team I do not know if he would accept."

Thats where Dossena lives.

Apart from gifting Hull a 2-0 lead for the draw at Anfield in what was his worst performance, I don't remember the lad being directly responsible for losing the team points.

Juventus And Genoa Interested In Liverpool's Dossena - Agent
Goal.com

After an inconsistent inaugural campaign with Liverpool, left-back Andrea Dossena has been linked with a return to Italy and his agent has revealed two interested parties in Serie A.

"I want to make clear that the player is doing well in Liverpool and has never said, as some sections of the press reported, that he wants to leave the club that is in the Champions League and equipped to win the Premier League next season," Roberto La Florio explained to Itasportpress.

"Having said that I can say Juventus and Genoa have asked for my assistance, but we are far from starting any negotiations."

"Any player in the world would not immediately reject any proposals from these important Italian clubs, but Dossena enjoys the confidence of [liverpool coach] Rafa Benitez and was used 26 times last season."

Despite not having a starring role for the Reds in 2008-09, Dossena continues to be included in the Italy set-up by Marcello Lippi.

Wohoo, a bidding war for our Italian ace

Andrea Dossena's agent has admitted that a move to Juventus is not certain to go ahead.

The Italian giants have been linked with the Liverpool defender since the end of the 2008/9 season.

The former Udinese man, who endured a mixed first season at Anfield, had high hopes of returning to Serie A this summer.

But Dossena's representative Roberto La Florio has now revealed that things are not developing as quickly as they would have liked.

"We can only wait," La Florio told Corriere dello Sport.

"For the time being, I have not met (Juventus sporting director) Alessio Secco and I don't have an appointment set up with him in the near future.

"At this time I don't know if Dossena will join Juventus."
Grosso

Juve are also considering Fabio Grosso of Lyon as another option at left-back but La Florio is not sure that a deal is close to being sorted out.

He explained: "I know there are some problems with Grosso's negotiations.

"We can only wait, we are not in a hurry.

"In any case the lad (Dossena) is also happy at Liverpool."

Oh dear. Come on, Juve, we're relying on you.

Liverpool are hanging on to Italy left back Andrea Dossena despite interest from Juventus because Fabio Aurelio has suffered a freak knee injury.
Manager Rafa Benitez fears the Brazilian will not be ready for the start of the season after apparently injuring his leg playing in the garden.
Dossena was set to leave less than a year after arriving from Udinese for £7m but his agent Roberto La Florio said: 'At this time I don't know if he will join Juventus.'
