Pepe lad do us a favour please don't go, this interview don't look to promising lad. It would probably hurt me more you going before Torres. I promise if you stay I will show you some shrek love.

Pepe Reina dropped a shock hint last night that he would consider quitting Liverpool.

When asked how long he intended to stay at Anfield, he replied 'at least until the end of the season', despite the Spaniard having a six-year contract.

And Reina, one of Liverpool's three world-class players alongside Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, intriguingly added he will not return to Spain if he leaves.

Reina's comments will put rival clubs on alert, particularly Arsene Wenger's Arsenal.

Reina, 28, who has not won a trophy since the FA Cup in 2006, said: 'I signed a six-year deal seven months ago and I'm happy at the club, but every footballer wants to be competing for trophies and winning things.

'I will stay at Liverpool at least until the end of the season. I know there are rumours about me leaving but I want to make it clear that I have no intention of going back to Spain.'

Losing Reina would be a huge blow for Roy Hodgson, who has seen his horrendous start at Liverpool improve in recent weeks, with a previously out-of-form Torres netting twice in Sunday's 2-0 win over champions Chelsea.

Reina also hinted that previous manager Rafael Benitez's departure in the summer had not left him overly happy.

'Rafael Benitez was an essential person for this club and the reason I came to Liverpool,' he said.

Hodgson might not mind the inferred criticism after the win over Chelsea lifted Liverpool up to ninth, level on points with sixth-placed Bolton.

Hopes it's just a bad dream

I guess it's no surprise that he won't go back to Spain given that both Barca and Real are sorted for keepers as far as they're concerned.

That leaves Milan or an unthinkable move to one of Utd or Arsenal if he were to go.

I would like to think he would have more respect for the fans not to even consider UTD.

Bad fucking timing. Can these players, (and I don't care if it's PEPE reina), keep their fucking traps shut for two minutes. We need some fucking stability. Give the fucking club a drama free fucking month would you? This is the last kind of crap we need.

If the money is right..

The cunt can't even get into the national team

I'd like to think it's been either badly translated, purposely taken out of context or both. It's a bit unlike Reina to come out with something like this.

Take that back, lets hope it's just an interview lost in translation.

I'll wait to hear it from a better source to be honest.

True, it could be another Daily Mail joke.

We'd better show some serious intent in January.

If true, I am surprised at Pepe though. It's not even cryptic.

A) I can't blame him, I'd say the same

B) if he we get a figure remotely near his 'actual' value, I'm happy

I wouldn't be happy in the slightest, unless it was considerably more than his value. The guy probably wins us just as many points as Torres in all honesty. He is in top 5 keepers in the world and we would find it very hard to ever replace him.

Are you taking the piss?

No but I'm resigned to him moving on,everything the new owners are saying makes me think we're half a decade odd off a title anyways.

This would absolutely crush me. There is no one (available) that could replace him and, as mentioned in this thread, he's probably worth as many points as Torres. With this long to go on his contract, the only thing that could temper losing him would be receiving over 25 M quid (and who really thinks we'd actually get that?) and I'd still rather have Pepe.

Rubbish.

He's - arguably - the best goalkeeper in the World playing for a team that haven't won anything in 4 years, finished 7th last season, and are currently 9th.

He has every sigle right to question his future. f he didn't I'd questions his fucking ambition.

Absolute SHITE Ryan. Like I said at the start of my post - Bad timing. We've been through enough off field DRAMA, and things are getting better. Give it a rest for a month. Give us a break from this shite, and do your business behind closed doors.

Don't go spouting off in the media.

Henry has already chatted to Torres and Pepe. He was heartened at their ambition and intelligence. It's fair to say that while they both have a fair ways to go on their contracts, its only right that the club matches their ambition of winning trophies (which is what we all want).

I'm not sure about the escape clauses included in their contracts but I'd be gutted if it exists. Needless to say, we need to bring in a few top players to strengthen the team.

This firmly puts the ball in the clubs court. Let's get on with winning football matches and silverware. That will ensure that we keep our best players and make recruitment that much easier.

I hear that its a fact that Henry will put his money were his mouth is and Pepe wont need to go anywhere, so there is no need to worry. I heard it from a very reliable source.

He says he's at the very least staying till the end of the season. He's got years left on his contract so he can't sign any contract in January with another club. So there's nothing that should affect the team negatively in what he's said. We just need to keep winning to keep our best players.

I think he's pretty much saying this, 'Sign some good players for christ sake, or I will be off to Arsenal, im not wasting the best years of my career playing mid-table football'.

"spouting off"?

Have you only read the headline?

Read his actual quotes, which were probably in reply to direct questions, and then come back to me.

I find it hard to believe that Reina has said all this, and I would bet my money on it being take out of context. If we don't show any ambition over the next year, then he would be a fool not to consider his options. He's not getting any younger and wants to win thropies.

The main reason why this reeks of media cockup is that it's the Daily Mail. The Guardian is quoting the mail, and the Mail is quoting the Sunday Express. Good source??!!

And because Pepe said a couple of days ago that things were finally moving in the right direction. He has also been extremely careful in the past of what he has said in the media, and this doesn't sound like him at all.

Lastly, Henry will have stated his ambition, and this will most definetly have impressed Reina. I wouldn't be to worried tbh about this article.

But why, why do Arsenal get brought up every time he's linked somewhere??!! They haven't won anything for 7 years, are still as unlikely to do anything about it in the near future and only have going for them that they play sexiclious football (at times) and are in the CL. 5 points ahead of us, after our HORRIBLE start. Won't be much of a step up in my book and will never happen.
