Just a rumour, but a mate's brother (who works for a football media graphics company, mainly on La Liga) has said that Mourinho is about to bid for Dirk to join Real Madrid (!), but faces competition from Inter and Rafa. 8-10 million apparently. I'd imagine a Rafa bid is definitely in the offing.

What do you think? He's 30, has become a fixture in the side under Rafa (not necessarily always deservedly so) and can provide back-up for Torres, albeit one without a modicum of pace.

Cash in and spend on a proper winger (or add 5m for Ozil)? Or stick with a player who divides opinion but runs further than other teams combined?

If we don't stop 'cashing in' we're gonna have no one left. He's a proper Liverpool player, he's sweats blood for the shirt, we'd be stupid to sell just because he's 30. He's one our few experienced players and his workrate is invaluable.

I'm a big fan of Kuyt, but I also like the idea of having a real 'transfusion' of the squad, but we can't replace *everyone* and I'd prefer to see several others go before Kuyt

I don't doubt the veracity of the Benitez interest but Real? They surely have plenty of other options

Is this the ultimate g&h plan.start off by keeping the fans happy selling the likes of insua, riera then slowly slowly the whole squad maxi, torres, masher, kuyt etc etc, take all the extra money they make and sell the club a week before transfer window closes. Whoop.

I'm not Kuyt's biggest fan but I can't see any logical footballing reason to sell him this summer.

Inter are looking to go for Mascherano and Kuyt for a combined fee of 50 million Euros.

I'd bite their arm off.

It is a strange one given they've just signed Di Maria to add to Ronaldo. Maybe Maureen wants one workhorse and one fancy dan on the flanks with Greasy through the middle?

Dirk Kuyt has stated several times that he'll stay. Hopefully he'll play as a forward this season and score some goals.

Moratti was bragging about having a 160 million Euro war chest. Still they don't want to pay a premium for Mascherano and want to include Muntari in a player plus cash deal.

Moratti is suspended at the moment for irregularities in the diego milito deal! I dont get how he could be suspended. Like instead of just doing things himself he can tell someone else to do it! Stupid retarded italian f.a.

Dunno, Avvy. Works like a Trojan, has a habit of scoring in pressure games...I don't think it's such a strange idea, even if he'd only be a squaddie there.

Selling one of the goal threats in the squad isn't a good idea. Can we start being linked to forwards again please?

We should not sell Dirk. He's our #2 striker, and can play either wing if need be.

While I'd want better, we don't have better - nor will we purchase better. So no.

unlike some I don't think he is the best thing since sliced bread, but to sell him for 8-10m would be silly, 15m+ and you Jose can have him, they are made for each other.

I have a personal issue, in that I didn't want him in the first place coz he was a cheating diving twat (Holland v Portugal, Germany 06), then I thought he was a useless load of shit, then gradually got to thinking he was ok-ish, to thinking he's one of our better players, and just when I'm dead happy for him to start a season he'll be off.

How are Mourinho and Kuyt 'made' for eachother?
[/quote]

mourinho loves players who give 110%, he values work rate, attitude and physicality above technique and grace. Kuyt doesn't fall in the latter category.
